A Loom Fanfiction - Chaos: Chapt
The patter of footsteps danced on the ground. Flames of torches rushed in unison towards a destination. Gnarled trees, bushes, and thorns painfully blocked their paths, but the group of panicking people continue to move on for what rushed behind them would cause them worse pain. An obviously faster stomping was chasing the small group of those that were left, a unified movement of footsteps creating large echos into the air.
The screams of men and women shredded the ominous air, left by those who attempted to protect themselves and their loved ones. They were the screams of those that stayed, thinking that they had a chance. Spears, scythes, swords, knives, pans... Nothing worked on their undead pursuers. Fast, strong, relentless. And now they were part of the hunters, searching from new meat.
A clearing present itself inside the gnarled forest, giving the group a slight reprieve from the thorns and sharp rocks of the unkempt forest. However, all knew that this rest had to end short for their pursuers's footsteps came closer and closer, guided by the scent of fresh meat.
A voice of authority rose from the panicking group. A woman effaced by a full-length cloak of yellow yelled out in an old, gruff voice, followed by a man similarly effaced in a dark purple cloak.
"Everyone continue on the sanctuary! I and Nyx shall keep them at bay!"
The crowd didn't need her instruction. The group's singular desire for safety gave it its direction. Children were rushed across, their confusion of the dangers only increasing the panic of the crowd.
Some stayed behind in order to bolster the help. Notes of music ran through the air with the majority of those who stayed pointed a staff into the air.
High tones of Es, Ds, and Cs ran throughout the air in unison. The green and black sky rumbled and roared before daggers of lightning split the clear air struck down both Inferi and man alike. Those who stayed for this defiant stance knew that their stand was futile and will soon be overrun by the minions of the dead, but to buy the group just a little time and a chance to survive will be all worth it.
Soon after, there was nothing left of the men and woman who decided to stay...nothing left but dust and the sharp scent of ozone in the air. The Inferi, though a few dozen zombies shorter, continued to march in the direction of the group.
