    A beautiful lie, that's what you are,
    A beautiful mask to hide your thoughts.
    A beautiful lie to cover your scars,
    A beautiful mask to show what you're not.

    The first time I saw you I fell in love,
    I felt you were sent to me from above.
    Soon "you" and "me" became "we" and I felt our love was strong,
    However, I discovered I was very, very wrong.

    In the beginning, everything seemed perfect and right,
    But that was before I was shown the light.
    Before long, your mask was unraveling and becoming undone
    'Til no longer were you my love, my sun.

    You said I was always on your mind,
    But it seems that was just another lie.
    You promised you loved me and I believed it to be true,
    But I now know that the only one you loved was no one but you.

    I know I was not perfect, but I certainly tried my best,
    Yet was it so wrong of me to ask the same of you and nothing less?

    Unfortunately, it seems that was too much to ask,
    And I am sad that the relationship was unable to last.
    In the end, I guess we just were not meant to be,
    And by that, I mean this "you and me."

    Thinking back now, I am now completely sure,
    A beautiful lie, that's all we were.
