I stared along my black cigarette the smoke rose and fell in a small stream. My dark office was a sanctuary, my desk a humble offering of comfort from a day of depressing ends. I had closed the windows blinds when I entered and put my booted feet on the desks edge and gazed out at the smoke of my clove.
Sensing that they would be coming at some point on this dull afternoon I sat in waiting. They wanted a dark agent to find information for they’re justice filled administration but they sent me on a blank quest. There was no information regarding that matter. Nothing of any kind. I didn’t like the dead ends of this case, not one bit.
The phone on my desk beeped twice and a voice came on, “The officers from Station 503 are here. Shall I let them in?” It was my brave secretary, John. I could hear his young voice stern and righteous, the fool.
I pushed on the red button and replied. “Yes, John, allow them to come up.”
“Yes, Ma’am.” I heard the door to the stair well open and the slow impeding steps of the officers. They lumbered down the hall to my steel door and slowly opened it to my dark room. I watched as each of the four men stepped into the shadows and waited patiently for me to turn on the lights.
Sensing the new officers I hesitated. They would be new to seeing my kind. Only the highest ranking are taught of my kinds existence. Those that are shown so bluntly have trouble socializing in the future.
“Turn on the lights, Tlalli.” That voice could only belong to him. I reached under my desk and flicked the switch turning the florescent lights on. My eyes locked with Mohedren’s. His tall lanky body stood in the center of my office. A green jacket was strapped to his body with belts of ammunitions. His tight pants wrapped with blue ribbon and filled to the brim with swords and daggers. Mohedren’s face is that of an angel, pale, blue eyed, blonde curly hair and a boy like face.
The men behind him gasped as each of the three noticed my appearance. The mixture of what an angel and a demon would look like. Beauty and ugly clash on my skin. The red tint of a demon is layered with the smooth texture of an angel. My eyes are slanted and a bright red as if I drank the blood of humans. This clashes with the beauty of my facial structure, round and elegant, lips full teeth sharp.
“Did you get any information?” Mohedren asked placing his right hand lightly on his golden dagger.
“None,” I sighed and placed me feet on the ground. The fabric of my skirt flowed with my hasty rise. “The people you gave me are nothing but scum.”
“They held no information?” Mohedren’s voice was filled with arrogant sarcasm. I knew this was all a show for his following officers but he can get rude.
“Nothing. Your intel is getting worse,” I stated flatly laying the palm of my hand on my double barreled shotgun.
“Captain!” yelled one of the intimidated officers
Mohedren sighed. “It is nothing, private. We are in her office, after all.”
The jumpy officer stepped back and glared at me. I put both of my hands on my hips. “Are you ever going to prepare your officers before leading them in here?”
“No,” he stated. “I prefer to scare them.” He smiled. “And I love to see your face filled with hatred.” He laughed, then looked into my eyes. “The beauty your face holds doesn’t disappear when you snarl.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at that. Who would think of me as beautiful other then Mohedren. “Besides the point of your petty officers, I have no information for you.”
“Fine,” he ran his fingers through his hair. “We will take our leave, my lady.” His words full of sarcasm again. He bowed slightly, winked, and turned gesturing for his officers to leave. Just before Mohedren closed the door he flicked a small card onto the floor.
I waited for them to be in the stairwell before I went to pick it up. The small pale card had a name and street address printed on it. That sneaky angel was holding out on me. My shotgun was within reach in seconds and soon holstered to my side. One last lead.
