These are my absolute pride and joy. I got these back when I was living in the desert in about 2012-2013 and wanted something sturdy that would be sufficient for the terrain. I recalled hearing of a site that sold gothy boots from a fellow goth friend of mine, Bruno. I checked it out and mostly saw girly shoes and boots like high heeled boots and platforms which I do not care for and is just not my thing. What I dig is actual combat style boots. To me that's the sexy s**t. Finding some with some straps and buckles was even more of a plus.
This pair had the right amount of straps. Not too little and not too many. I've seen some with twice as many or with spikes or chains and I don't like the look of that either. I prefer simple with a bit of my own personal fancy. I absolutely love black straps. The rivet head look is one of the hottest styles imo and I've loved it since I first saw it so I'm going to love many things with black straps and grey-silver buckles.
These boots are real leather and cost $315. These were the most expensive thing I ever bought for myself, at the time at least. I didn't know I was going to be paying that much at first because it was in Euros so if I remember correctly it said 100 something. When I saw how much they really were I tried to cancel the order but I couldn't. I'm glad it didn't get canceled because they were so, so very worth it and are one of my favorite possessions and clothing articles in my life.
They lasted 6 years before the soles wore out and I had to replace them. By that time I was stuck living in a very bad and toxic household and hardly had any money so I wasn't able to afford to get them fixed so I had to let them just sit for many years. Finally in January of this year we were able to take them to the local cobbler and were able to afford to get the soles replaced which cost $160 which wasn't too bad. The guy put kevlar soles on them and said they should last another 10 years. He also loved the ******** out of them and said they were some of the nicest boots he got to work on in many years.
Before we were able to get them fixed I tried replacing them with another pair from Demonia which ended up falling apart in a couple months. Likely because they no longer use real leather. They didn't cost as much but still it said real leather which was a lie. They got holes in the back above the base of the foot and on the toes. Then another similar pair had the same fate. So together that was a waste of about $200 or so.
A couple memories I have of these boots was seeing a guy in a Texas Walmart wearing the same pair but they looked more warn out. I remember the guy looked like Hesher from the movie Hesher. I thought he looked so cool and that it was awesome to see someone who digs the same style as I do.
I also remember Carol from The Walking Dead wearing the same pair in an episode from one of the old seasons. I wont forget it if I see someone wearing the exact same boots! Also I really fancy that Lara Croft is sometimes seen wearing some similar boots. In some of the FMV's more specifically in Tomb Raider: Chronicles (TR5) for the VCI levels it shows her with similar buckle strap boots but with 2 or 3 straps.
I've been through many many things with my fateful old boots. Many ups and downs but mostly downs. Many hard times were had in these and they even currently still smell like the old musky place that I use to be stuck in. It was a terrible toxic and traumatizing time but I got out of it and now I got my old boots back. They were the only thing strangers cared to complement me on and wearing them again actually makes me feel very confident. Personally I don't fancy random people talking to me but if someone can appreciate some quality sick a** boots I can dig it.
