I made a set of fairy wings. I spent most of yesterday working on them and some of this morning. They're made mostly from poster board and cellophane. They mount on my back with a wire loop that I slip under my corset. So I basically have to have a corset to wear these things.
I'm also questioning how I'd actually GO anywhere with them. I obviously can't drive with them. There's no space for them, and they'd probably be easily crushed if I leaned against anything while they were on my back. So I could store them in my back seat while driving, but then people would watch the idiot fairy girl trying to slip on some wings while standing by her car. Dilema dilema.
And then there's storing them. They take up a lot of space, but they're delecate. So I can't keep them in my closet. I had them hanging on the sword mounted on my wall, but then I realized that my dove would try landing on it while she was out. She could probably rip them to shreds.
So, enough complaining.
These wings are awesome. Yeah, they're flawed, but that's to be expected. It's my first time making wings, and my first time using cellophane for anything. Cellophane is a b***h. But they're still gorgeous for a first try. I'm proud of myself for designing the pattern of the veins. I'm not proud of myself for going with purely clear cellophane, rather than an iridescent cellophane, but the spray-glue put a misty effect on the insides of the wings, so they don't look like saran-wrap.
I'll probably ask somebody to take pictures of them while I wear them tomorrow.
