The soft wind that blew, On the moonlit window pane. He lay asleep, as a feather flew. A fair feather; not quite the same, As such a seraphim's glowing hue. That basked in the glory of their frame.
It touched to the ground, On his pillow it swayed. A touch so light, without a sound. It swept up, and around his nose it played. And then he awoke, to what he had found. The small little feather was just slightly frayed.
He sat up with a fright. On to the damp cold grass, in a panic he leapt. At his cheeks, blew the chilling cold winds of the night. The sky grew darker as he stepped. But something in the clearing was so bright. A thing, no, a person, he saw as he crept. Deeper and deeper, he followed the light. Something so awing, something so adept.
He looked up in shock. As he met eyes with the feather's holder. Not an unjust ruler, or a swan keeper and her flock. But a young girl, at seventeen and not a day older. She smiled gently at him, a gesture he seemed to mock.
At his feet were pieces of her wings. Startled, he asked "Do all of these belong to you?" "They do." She spoke with a voice that sings. "Then why are they lying here?" He continued to pursue. "They are for you." The angel replied of all things. The boy looked puzzled "But why, that's so foolish to do."
The heavenly being simply smiled. "A feather to you, from my love from afar. A feather for every thought of you I have compiled. And a feather for all that you are."
As he stood there the feathers stitched together. A pair of bright silver wings unfolded. Though compared to hers had fewer feathers. But both were born from their love that was molded.
She kissed his cheek lightly. And he whispered softly in her ear, As he held her in his arms tightly. "When I saw that small white feather appear, It shown with a love so brightly. A feeling I wanted to be near, Your messages in a bottle were unsightly. But my love for you now is ever clear."
The two smiled and in time passed on. But if you listen closely to the wind. And look for a message bottle shaped like a swan. You'll be able to comprehend that the two loves entwined. Love of afar, and the love about to dawn. Can offer hope for all to find.
