The Dark Magician For the win!
It is about time we had another one!! Sorry about that. I know we started to get on a schedule thing and then it went to hell! But I am back with a armor clad bishi that you will just LOVE!
So lets us start with the boring stuff, shall we?
Name: The Dark Magician, Black Magician (depending on region) Series: The Yu-Gi-Oh anime, video games and table card games
So he is a card?
Yeppers!
Atk: 2500 Def: 2100 (whoot!) Attribute: Dark Type: Spellcaster Description: The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense. Stars: 7
If you have a Yu-Gi-Oh game, they often allow you to put the card serial number in a special area that allows you to get that card in game. If you have not done so already, and because I love you all, the number is 46986414. Don't say I never gave you anything!
Looks: I put this here for a reason. The Dark Magician has more then his purple self. There is:
Purple with Blond hair Purple with Purple hair Purple with blond hair and red "reno style" marks under his eyes Purple and red with blond hair Purple with green skin blond hair and red marks Red with blond hair
and that is ONLY the Dark Magician. I couldn't list all the other incarnations!
Personality: This is a little tough. When we first meet him, he is a card. Not much there to stand out. There was a moment in one battle that this "computer generated image" mocked Yugi's opponent. He went and wagged his finger with a nice "tsk tsk". The sly look and his slim cut bedroom eyes made it that much more funny.
He is computer generated, he only has the movments given to him, and yet he created his own tease. Talk about Ai!
Our next hint that there was something more was during the battle city ark. In the Season two episode The Master of Magicians, we say The Dark Magician do something that should not have been possible. He sacrificed himself to save Yugi. This was very pivotal of the series, the friendship and the turning point of the "heart of the cars".
It is in the end that we find out exactly why he has the ability to break free from the computer settings. The Dark Magician is really the Pharaohs right hand man, Mahad (I have seen this as Mahad and Mahado, Let me know which is correct).
Mahad served as the holder of the Millennium Ring (Shock factor!) before it was stolen by the Thief King, Bakura. "When Bakura attacked Mahad, Mahad sacrificed himself to merge with Illusion Magician, the fusion forming the Dark Magician. In doing so, Mahad vowed to protect the Pharaoh for eternity, a vow that he continues to serve to the Pharaoh's reincarnation". Talk about loyalty! This all happened when he asked his men to seal him into the tomb that the thief was in. He was willing to die to prevent the thief from escaping.
Like so:
From Mahad, we see that he is Loyal, kind dedicated and truly believes in himself.
--------------------------------
The Love Factor: Since so little is really known about him, people tend to match him with everyone under the sun. Here are some of the most common ones and my opinion on them.
Mana/Dark Magician Girl: Dear Gods no! Have you no shame people? She is an innocent little girl. Mana, who became the Dark Magician Girl via sacrifice, was being trained by Mahad. It isn't bad she has to suffer his constant nagging to try harder? Now he is a ***** that is corrupting her innocence? I don't think so people.
Seth/Set/Seto: They ARE the same person. No matter what time period, they have the same ambition, same personality and same bad attitude. They need to get laid, but not by the Dark Magician. First off, I don't think they ever had any real interaction besides trying to talk sense into the Pharaoh. Furthermore, they don't REALLY like the Pharaoh/Yugi/Atem/Yami. I don't see them jumping into bed with the enemy. Please, have some will power. Seto needs his puppy. Don't you feel the love? Not.
Yugi: Again, with the ***** like thing? How old is Yugi? I know he is in highschool, but this is borderline fetish. He is sworn to PROTECT, not corrupt. The Dark Magician respects him to much.
Yami/The Pharaoh: Why yes, this is separate. Past life: Mahad had too much respect and loyalty. Atem was a tad busy dealing with a crazy thief. Present: Again, the respect thing. Sing it with me everyone R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
The Celtic Guardian: Oh yeah baby, card love! You really dug deep for this one, didn't you? Yugi plays them together a lot, there must be something to it. Magician just loves how Celtic handles his big sword and Celtic just gets all warm under the collar when Magician pulls out his long staff *eyebrow wiggle* If it wasn't so funny it would be scary.
Other Color Dark Magicians: You know the red version he fought and then Yugi won? Apparently Red was just a bad a** that needed to be loved and told it was going to be alright. Right after the battle they went to the shadow realm and got it on. Really people?
Other Magicians: While we are on the subject of Magician on Magician, appaently he is seeing the Magician of Black Chaos on the side for a little sum'n sum'n, ya now? Just like Red, he is dark and misunderstood. Leave it to the Dark Magician to make it ALLLLL better!
If I missed any, let me know. I am NOT going to get into the threesomes that were born from he last several episodes
------------------------
The End Point: I love him. It is really scary when you love a character with almost no personality who can’t talk. I liked him long before you found out he had a soul and was a real person. Considering the vast amounts of Dark Magician cards sold long before the end of the series, they really outdid themselves. People I played against in school all had a Dark Magician, even if they didn’t have it in their deck. It was just something you wanted close by for no reason at all. If they had another show that gave him a voice and personality to go with it, I would watch it in a heartbeat.
