Chapter: 3
I was still reaching for the Mirror when I fell on my face in dirt. Dirt? I shot back up. “What the heck happened?” I said to myself. I stood in a grassy forest area, and shallow pond lay to my right. It felt like daytime because of the incredibly bright moon light. It was as if the sky had been locked in twilight. Odd shadows were cast through the trees because of that. Rixia was nowhere to be found. I picked up the mirror and a few puzzle pieces, because obviously the puzzle exploded. I stuck the pieces in my pocket. Where was I? I held the mirror like a little sword. I suppose I’d use it like. Suddenly the mirror began to shimmer causing some silvery dust to fall from it. It elongated and became the size of a long dagger, a shiny mirror on one side and golden-silver on the other side. It’s sides were sharp and the tip looked dangerous. I stepped out from under the trees and looked up. No wonder it was so bright; there were three moons I knew I flat out, wasn’t dreaming. “Rixia ” I called out. There was no answer. I turned to my left and realized that I was atop of a flat hill. I started down it, as it continued to get steeper. I kept tripping and eventually I slid down on my butt the whole way down it. I finally ended up at the base of a tall tree with lots of knots in it. They did teach us to climb trees in Kid-scouts to get a lookout. I started to climb, gripping the mossy holes in the tree. I stuck my hand in a particularly large hole and a squawky bird flapped around and pecked at my hand. I pulled back and almost slipped and dropped the Mirror dagger. I scurried up the rest of the way, hoping not to disturb a meaner creature. A huge canopy lay atop of these already huge trees. It was flat and clumped together much like a big green carpet. A large expanse of hills, cliffs, ponds, and waterfalls extended in all directions. Something amongst the green caught my eye. Rixia’s white pajama shirt It was about one hundred feet away. Hastily I ran towards it, the tree branches bouncing under me like a trampoline. My view of it got clearer and clearer; and ten feet away I stopped. It was her robe but not her. I thought I’d cry. I was so close to finding her. Standing there, something tugged on my foot. I looked down and a hand was gripping the end of my slipper, coming up from the branches. I pulled back but it tightened. “Let go ” I shouted. In response, a noise that sounded like steam hissing from a machine came below. Shhhh... I replayed it in my head and realized that it was something shushing me. “Are you stupid or something, Auxion?” A voice from below came. I stopped struggling and bent down and saw a familiar face. “Rixia ” I exclaimed, holding her hand in a loving embrace. “Gist dowin ” She said, the leaves distorting her voice. “What? ” Suddenly, an arrow flew towards me and straight into my head, immediately destroying the chances of me ever leaving that horrible place.
