Make a forum account. This is a very important step, in that it will give you the interface to manage your adoptables. Make sure you are logged in, when adopting.
First: You can adopt a Pokeball, on the Adoptables page. Pokeballs hatch on a specific date. The hatch date of the current Pokeballs is right on that page. To adopt any adoptable from PokePlushies, give your adoptable a name, and enter your e-mail address. Don't worry too much about the name; you can always change it later.
Second: You can adopt a Dinomon Egg, at the Dinomon Nest. These adoptables evolve at a random level somewhere between level 50 and 80, and they must be hatched within a few days of adoption or they will die. Dinomon can be traded in at the Dinomon Handlers for other adoptables; see this topic for details.
Third: You can adopt a Flyffable, from the Flyffables page. These hatch at level 50, and are replaced in pairs every couple of months. This means at any given moment your Flyffable egg can hatch into one of four creatures, but in a couple of months, two of those creatures will no longer hatch from the eggs. Already hatched creatures will not be affected, of course.
Fourth: You can purchase an adoptable from the Cash Shop, using PayPal. These adoptables don't hatch or evolve, they're already in their final form. Your Cash Shop purchases help defray the expense of site hosting, and give you a warm feeling inside.
Fifth: You can trade with other users at the Trade Station. You'll need to have some adoptables of your own to offer before you can participate. Only adoptables that have reached their final form can be traded. Additionally, some adoptables cannot be traded. Refer to the Adoptable Guide, when in doubt.
Sixth: You can win special promotional adoptables, through special contests and events around the site.
There isn't any limit to the number of adoptables you can adopt; however, mass-adoption of Pokeballs is strongly discouraged. Mass-adoption is defined as adopting more than two or three of a single style of Pokeball.
I've Got My Adoptables, Now What?
Your first impulse, as a new adoptable owner, may be to post your adoptables on the forums and ask others to click them and give them levels. You must resist that impulse, because level-begging is against forum rules. In fact, now would be a good time to read all the Forum Rules. Learn them. Live by them. People who break forum rules will receive warnings, whether they have read the rules or not.
What you should do is add them to your forum signature. You can find the codes in Your Adoptables. You can also make a museum of all your adoptables in the Adoptables Museum. Read the rules there, too. Museums are meant to be adoptable showcases, not level-begging fests.
Now that you've got your signature set up and your museum rolling, it's a good time to have a look around the forum. There is a lot to read and a lot going on. You should spend lots of time reading and getting to know the community before posting. There isn't a forum or area for introductions; instead we prefer that members join in an existing discussion once they're confident that they have something meaningful to contribute.
It's very important to check Site and Forum Announcements frequently. It's your resource for up-to-the-minute news from the Site Admins, and it's also the place to learn about special adoptable contests and giveaways. You'll also want to visit the PokePlushies Instruction Manual section of the forums. It's got lots of detailed, step-by-step guides to the more complicated aspects of PokePlushies.
