School blues v.v
I have been trying to have a very positive outlook this week, because i recieved an email that basically had the moral of only you can make your life positive, you can choose to be positive or you can choose to be negative. Well this week i chose to be positive and it worked for a little while, and then the volusia county school budget cuts got in my way.

You see, I am in this program called IB, most of you have probably heard about it. In Volusia county it is funded for the students by the school system: they pay for our tests, are classes, etc. Because of the budget cuts though, it is highly likely that the school board will either make us pay for the program or cancel the program altogether. If they make us pay for it, my mother said it wouldn't be to big of a deal because she will pay the 300+ dollars for tests, tuition, etc. The problem is the latter option.

If they cancel the program altogether...then my mom says I'm moving to lake county with my grandparents where IB is still intact. Unfortunately I wouldn't have a choice in the matter and I would have to leave my friends and family behind. It makes me upset because my whole life has been in Volusia county.

There are also two views to the situation. The first view is that it is going to happen. The coordinator at my school has sent out emails to inform us of the situation and she wants us to organize a protest. The second view is that this is all rumor. My IB chemistry teacher says that since she has heard nothing of the situation that it is all pure rumor. I want to believe my chemistry teacher, but my instinct is telling me to believe the IB coordinator.

I'm glad I could this down, because this is the latest issue that has ruined my mood. The thing that makes me the most mad though is the fact that the politicians, though they maybe taking pay cuts because of the budget, they make over 150k a year. Thats thoroughly ridiculous.

Something else that makes me mad about this is the fact that the people who can vote don't bother taking the time to investigate what they are voting for. For example, because amendment one was passed in the State of Florida stating that the property tax needed a reduction, the school has now lost most of its funding, causing the budget cuts. Seriously, if everyone stresses how the young people are the future, then why can't we vote on our own futures? Thats when we get the answer that we are too immature, but I highly disagree. Maybe its the fact that it is quite the opposite that i view it this way. The "legal" adults are the ones putting us through war when there are clearly better solutions that do not involve the killing of innocent people. They are also voting on amendments they no nothing about, when the younger people are the ones that have most recently gone through the schooling and know what they are about. The adults are the ones fighting in front of their kids, teaching their children that fighting can be okay, when it isn't. Adults stoop down to "our level" when they feel it is necessary. So who is really the child in this situation?
