Did we get this far just to feel your hate? Did we play to become only pawns in the game?
This is just a story I started writing recently... My English teacher had us write a free Journal Entry and I decided to write a little story up. However I've kind of made it a lot longer now that I've started typing it out. I have no idea where I'm going with it, nor have any real plans for it to go anywhere. As much as I love to write stories, I've lost interest in it, and can't seem to make a good one anymore. But whatever, here's what I've typed up so far, the introduction to my mind when I'm bored... Enjoy..

It was a sunny morning in the Crystalline Forest, though you wouldn’t know it if you were standing on the forest floor. The thick branches and bundles of leaves of the tree’s completely blocked out the sun, casting a dark shadow across the ground. The only light was from the oddly shaped Crystals that were amongst the tree leaves high in the air. These Crystals seemed to absorb the light that was coming from the sun and tear it apart, only fragments of the energy made it through, which would explain the oddly shaped patches of light that were randomly scattered across the forest floor.
Though the couple that was travelling through this forest hadn’t been so lucky, as their only source of light was emitting from the wooden torches they both carried in their hand. Though this light was giving them the ability to see what was ahead of them for a few feet, it wasn’t giving them the ability to see what was behind them: A pack of wolves. The wolves had been following them since the couple entered the forest, waiting for the perfect opportunity to attack the unsuspecting prey. Unlike the couple, these wolves lived in this forest, attuned their senses and sight to work with the darkness, so they didn’t need the random patches of light from the hanging Crystals nor did they need the torches that the two humans carried. They had the advantage.
Eventually the couple came to a fork in the road they had been following which caused them to stop for a bit to decide which direction they were going to take. That was their last mistake. As they conversed with each other about which direction to take, the pack of Wolves behind them grew closer and closer till the couple could smell and hear them approaching. Quickly turning around, the female screamed as she saw a large white wolf materialize out of the shadows and approach her. The male quickly stepped in front of his female companion to keep the wolf away from her, but failed as four more wolves materialized all around them, cornering them against a tree that split the path they were on. The couple’s hands clamped together as they held onto each other, praying that something would keep these Wolves from killing them, but for the most part, it didn’t seem to work. The largest Wolf of the pack approached the couple till he was close enough to rip right through them with his piercing teeth that he was bearing as he growled at them, but as he got closer, the couple slowly slid away from him, sliding around the tree, hoping they could make a run for it. This attempt at freedom was thwarted at the instant they started to run. The instant they broke away from the tree, not only did the Wolves quickly fly after them, they also stepped into a whole which descended deep into the earth below them. Their surroundings became completely black, only thing they could rely on now was the feeling of the other holding them, and the bumpy ground they slid down on. Though as they continued to descend, light slowly began to embrace them, slowly getting brighter and brighter till they exploded into a glowing room. The light blinded them for almost an instant before it was drowned out from the water that they came crashing into. Immediately letting go of one another, the couple quickly swam to the surface, though their descend had gathered enough speed to plunge them fairly deep into the water so when they surfaced they both were gasping for air and answers, but only the lack of air showed at the moment. Coming to solid ground, or what they thought was ground; the couple climbed out of the water and shook themselves in attempts to get most of the water off of their clothing. The floor they were standing on, the walls around them, and the ceiling above them all emitted the same bright golden yellow aura. “Where… are we?” asked the female as her eyes darted around the room, trying to find an answer before the male answered. The male didn’t have a response, nor did the surroundings give either of them one either. Taking a few steps, the male moved towards what looked like a mushroom, a very large mushroom at that, and it also was emitting that golden aura. Placing his hand on it, he quickly pulled it back. “What?” asked the female, thinking that he had burned his hand. “It’s freezing” he responded as he placed his hand on it again, this time holding it there. The chill from the large mushroom ran up his arm, sending the hairs on his arm straight up in the air. Pulling back again he shivered from the chill he had received and then continued to move around the room, looking for anything else that might explain where they were.
The walls hid everything, including a staircase that descended even further into the ground. Sliding his hand across the wall, which was also giving him the same chill as the mushroom had, he eventually came across the dip that the stairs had been dug into. “Honey, I found something!” he called across the room to his female companion, his wife. Hearing his voice, she quickly ran over to him to see what he had found. “Stairs?” she asked as she looked down them. Nodding his head, the male slowly began to descend them. “What are you doing?” she asked as she attached herself to his arm, trying to pull him back up the stairs. “I wonder where they lead” he answered as he continued to descend them, forcing her to come with. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you if anything attacks us” he stated trying to make her feel a bit better, however it didn’t work. Regardless how deep they descended, the glow from the walls, floor, and ceiling didn’t change, and neither did the chill they released when you touched them. Keeping one hand on the wall at his side and ignoring the chill, he held his wife close to his other side with his free hand, making sure she didn’t move away from him. They eventually came to the bottom of the stairs which was connected to another room, this one was a bit smaller in length and width, and it also contained many Crystals spiking out of the walls, floor, and ceiling. Moving over to one, the male placed his hand on the tip of one of these Crystals, which was fairly sharp. Had he pushed hard enough he was sure it could have penetrated right through his hand. “What’s that?” asked the female as she pointed over to a cluster of Crystals that shot out of the ground. They surrounded what looked like a giant stone tablet, none of them touching the tablet either. The male shook his head as he took in what she was pointing at, he couldn’t figure out what was going on anymore than she could. Slowly moving over to it, he stood as close to this tablet as the pointy Crystals would allow him and then proceeded to outreach his arm in attempts to grab the tablet from it’s floating position in the center of the Crystal formation.
“Don’t touch it!” ordered the female as she ran to her husband’s side, but she got there a little too late to stop him. His fingers grazed the rough surface of the tablet, but unlike everything else in this cavern they were in, this tablet wasn’t freezing cold. A few moments after he had touched it, the formation of Crystals around the tablet slowly began to lower into the ground allowing the male to proceed close enough to the tablet to remove it from its floating position. Once he was standing directly in front of the tablet he reached out with both of his hands and wrapped his fingers around the tablet. Soon as his fingers locked into place, his eyes shot open wide as he felt an amazing amount of energy surge up his arms and throughout his body. He attempted to release the tablet, but this energy had frozen his nerves and made it impossible for him to move any part of his body. “Steve? What’s wrong?” asked the female as she approached her husband only to find that he was now unconscious from the massive amount of energy pulsing throughout his body. Her eyes moved down his arms to the tablet that he was holding to notice that the symbols on the tablet were rearranging themselves. Her eyes widened a little as she saw this and attempted to pull Steve away from it, but it was as if he was frozen to the floor. He wouldn’t budge. The symbols continued to move around on the stone tablet until they had formed into what looked like some ancient language, though before the female could move away from what was about to happen, the tablet exploded into a bright light and sent her flying across the room, causing her to crash into a wall at the other end of the room. Steve was also sent flying into a wall at the other end of the room.
A few moments later the female opened her eyes and moaned as she rubbed the back of her head which had crashed into the wall she was now leaning against. Looking over she spotted Steve lying on the floor next to her, no longer holding the tablet, but he still looked like he was completely frozen. She looked over to the other end of the room to find that the tablet was no longer there, but in its place stood a figure, blackened out by the light from the walls around it, leaving a silhouette. Her eyes widened again and attempted to back up, but failed as she was still against the wall and the staircase they had used to get down here was too far to run to, especially in her condition. The figure moved closer to her until it was standing directly in front of her, but she could still not see who or what it was. “W-what do you w-want?” she asked, stuttering out a few words from fear. The figure stared down at her, its piercing green eyes digging deep into her soul, searching for answers, but found nothing it wanted to know. Its eyes shifted slightly over to Steve who was still lying on the floor for a moment before they returned to her. What seemed to be a mouth, opened before a deep dark voice boomed from it. “I owe you my thanks…” it said as it continued to stare down at the female. “You saved me from my imprisonment, and for that I will let you and your friend live” it continued as it once again looked over at Steve’s corpse. “But…” it trailed off as its gaze returned to hers, “You! Will come with me to my Palace and live there with me” it said as a shadowy arm reached down to her, seeming to want to help her up. The female was still petrified that this figure was talking to her, let alone offering her help off the ground. Not really thinking clearly, she reached out and took the hand in hers, only to be plunged into a room of complete darkness.
How blind can you be, don't you see? You chose the long road, but we'll be waiting
