Pandie says: "Beating a dead horse" is an idiom which means a particular request or line of conversation is already foreclosed, mooted, or otherwise resolved, and any attempt to continue it is futile.
Pandie says: Lingering means to hang around.
Pandie says: And belaboring basically means talking about something more than necessary, or to a point of annoyance.
So honestly, I can't really say anything for sure about this one. But ideas are welcome. (Maybe something very annoying that doesn't go away? A zit? xd )
