Quote: 'If there's anyone out there listening... a Higher Power, or what have you? I just want to point out, I am not sure I agreed to this.' The young Cheshire mare thought to herself as she stood in shock and listened to the sound of familiar, familial, footsteps retreating. She might have been watching the careless flick of a curling Cheshire tail, if her eyes weren't fixed on the innocuous object left behind.
A basket sat in the middle of the smallest of the glades she had claimed for her own use, usually only filled with medicinal and healing herbs and flowers and the sound of Esfir murmuring to herself as she worked. Now, of course, there was a very distinctive difference... A little round object made of flexible reeds and grasses that had changed to reflect the individual still sleeping within.
Like the basket, the retreating steps belonged to BluRazberry Jinx ParTea. Her eldest brother, Blu, who had asked her for a favor. Well, less asked and more demanded. Insisted? In some ways he'd steamed right over here without so much as a 'how do you do?' or a 'by your leave', and then he was gone again before her head had stopped spinning.
'Little Sister, I need a favor and you cannot tell Mother.'
Cannot tell Mother? Was her brother suddenly an idiot? What were the chances they could keep such a thing from her? Not very high What were the odds she didn't already know, before they'd even conspired to do so? Hopefully minimal? But things would surely be so much worse in the end, if that were the case. Esfir could barely stand to contemplate such a possibility.
If she had lips, she would probably be chewing on them right now.
As it stood, Esfir Lahal was restlessly clicking her bone jaws in an attempt to self soothe, ears flicking forward and back as her eyes remained fixed on the basket before her. The shades of grey basket would, to most, seem rather unassuming. Perhaps even harmless. But there were bright markings in prismatic, rainbow tones... Markings like the swirls over her brother's own back.
And a damning little teacup, to boot.
"Oh, Blu, what did you get us both into?" Esfir Lahal "Hunt the Thimble" Wordcount: 375

(As Foals) Hide & Seek Interlude Quote: Doing his best to make himself small, not exactly a simple feat with four sets of wings and a tail that seemed to have a mind of its own, the white and smokey grey Cheshire coltling flashed a sharp grin as he watched his aunt drift past with surprising grace on flesh and bone paws. Not knowing exactly where his sisters were hiding in the surrounding woods, Go Wu Lixin -LiLi or WuLi to his family unless he was in trouble- attempted to hide inside a cheerfully flowering shrub as he waited for the coast to be clear. If he had to guess, Witha had fallen asleep by now, which meant that there was really only Meng to worry about.
"This time, I'm gonna win." He muttered under his breath, black and gold eyes narrowed with determination. Go Wu Lixin Wordcount: 137Quote: It wasn't very easy camouflaging her wide array of deep blues and moonstone and the extra length of spine she seemed to have. However, since the beginning of their hide and seek shenanigans she won the most of them due to her wings being a singular set. Tucking her moonstone wings as close to her body as she could and slithered her way into a grove that had some multicolour plants her grandmother grew. Unbeknownst to Menghai--Meng or Xiao Hai--that they were probably well-satiated carnivorous plants. But that was her luck, either way, if they tried to take a chomp at the multicoloured girl or if they would cover the harpy Cheshire from being spotted by her aunt.
Unaware if she was seeable at all, she felt the doom loom, hopefully her brother wasn't getting the hang of hide and seek finally. Menghai Wordcount: 144Quote: Once he was satisfied that Aunt Esfir had moved along -hopefully on the way to find one of his sisters so they could have lost the game- WuLi bounces up out of his hiding place before he can explode. Being still is something of a chore for all Cheshires at this stage, and with so many extra limbs WuLi finds he is extra bad at it. Grace is still a year or so off into his future, generously speaking, so the emergence from the shrubbery is an uncoordinated whirlwind of hide and wings and gold-dripping claws. Cleared from the branches with a bit of a scrabble and a showering of petals, he looks around and then pounces further into the garden, large ears tipped back in determination.
"Going to find you," he mutters to himself with a little growl and a pounce around one of the hedges.
Nothing out of the ordinary greets him down the avenue except the idle snap and mutter of a drowsing carnivorous plant. WuLi visibly deflates, ears and wings drooping and delighted expression falling. "Aha- oh..."
Drat. Are his sisters really that much better at this game? Go Wu Lixin Wordcount: 192Quote: Menghai: Usually, she was picked on and upset about the fact she wasn't given such a lovely prehensile tail like either of her parents, or any one in her entire family. She had a hair tail, and her paws were not paws but claws. When she heard LiLi trudging around awkwardly, as he usually does, she was startled by how close they were. She stopped breathing for a little bit once she heard him growl and grumble.
Seeing the plants above her snip snap at her brother, her own ears pin down. Oh. Boy she did not expect that. Moving to slink out of the other side of the garden from her brother she jumped up a tall tree and basically hung from it upside down by her long talons. Okay, maybe these talons and her short growing hair tail weren't all that bad. Hopefully the brightness of her coat wasn't about to sell her out against the dark tree she had found herself hanging from. Like a sloth.. Or a bat? Sloth-batting.
She was happy that their baby sister was asleep, because she had a feeling that she would have won if she chose to hang from this tree over the two lighter siblings. Menghai Wordcount: 204Quote: Grumbling to himself as he hops the snapping vine of one of the rather bitey garden inhabitants, WuLi Cups two of his wing sets and folds the others, attempting to manage a glide. It's a rather awkward maneuver at this age, and having so many certainly doesn't help the matter... but practice is practice. And he's not exactly flying, just trying to add some glide to his jumps so he can avoid getting chomped on by one or another stellar example of his Grandmother's favorite foliage.
Aiming to bounce over the next row of snapping shrubbery, WuLi crouched and tucks for a moment, then leaps. His wings stretch and curve, belling in the wind of his movement like the fill of a sail. His long, unruly tail is no help at all as a rudder, acting more like an impediment than an aid. It lashes too close to the greenery's gnashing teeth for comfort and WuLi gives a little shriek, banking sharply enough he goes tumbling into the roots of a tree and finds himself with four paws to the sky.
"Ouch." He mutters, visibly deflating on the failure even as the botched landing cleared his lungs of breath.
WuLi thinks for a moment he's seeing prisms because he's bonked his head on top of everything, but the bright colorful blur resolves itself into a familiar shape after a moment of blinking. That's his sister... That's Menghai hanging from the tree like a bat...
Awwww butter biscuits, why couldn't he have talons if they work like that?
"MengMeng," WuLi mumbles from his back. "I vote we tell Witha she lost, whenever she wakes up... We call truce and I don't talk about you hanging upside down... and you don't talk about this. Deal?" Go Wu Lixin Wordcount: 293 Quote: Hoping that her brother doesn't misstep--misglide into the snappy shrubs, she winces each time he comes too close for comfort. Holding everything in herself to not at first shriek at his safety, and then not laugh at the absolute mess he finds himself at the roots of the tree. She was actually rather astonished at how well he glided along and practically flew with all of his many appendages more than anything. She didn't expect so many wings to actually work.
For some reasons she thought not moving an inch, not even allowing her mane to shake as she continued to cling with all of her might. Her head leaning back so she was practically staring at her brother from upside down. Blinking a few times, hoping that the silly excuse for a landing had made him bypass seeing her up in the branches.
"I mean.. You found me but." She giggles, "I think that's a good bargain.." She takes in a deep breath. "Can.. you go get Grandpa Moo? I don't think I can get down on my own." She said until her young legs gave out and she practically launched herself into an involuntary upside down clamoring of running sideways down the length of the tree until she tripped, flipped and landed on her back beside her brother. "Deal. A good deal, this never happened and Witha lost." A firm nod given to her brother. Menghai Wordcount: 238
