My Inner Demons
My heart palpitates,
Profusely pumping my blood,
Curdling and boiling with the heat of a thousand suns.
Twisting and gnawing, my rage grows,
Writing down my pain is the only catharsis I know.
I work hard all day,
To be criticized at night,
Denied my deserved praise,
For which I fight with all my might.
God’s tears on the pane are sharp like knives,
And they each sting me like each stripe of a hive.
The tornado erupts within me,
The pain too much to bear,
Soon it will consume me, I worry, nay, I fear.
And then the darkness in my heart,
Will be the only part,
Left to remain,
Once the rain does not come again.
