• People see two sides to you

    The sweet side
    Doting and loving
    An adorable smile
    Beautiful eyes
    A heart that knows no end
    To the smiles and laugh
    Surprises and scares
    That brings me to contentment

    Then there's the immature side
    Dirty comments pulled out of
    Who-knows-where
    That look of that-sounded-dirty
    When I was speaking of math homework
    I ask why
    You say it's a swimmer's mind
    I simply roll my eyes

    But they don't see the in-between

    The fragile side
    Self-confidence lacking
    Easily swayed with words
    Of discouragement
    Putting yourself down
    At every simple mistake
    I tell you to bring yourself up
    I wonder if it's working

    Whenever that side surfaces
    My heart can't help but ache
    If you can't believe in yourself
    Who can
    Even if I do
    Can you become stronger
    These words of encouragement
    Are only a security blanket for you

    Only I can see the in-between
    Only you can change that
