When the frost fell on your head
“You look like an angel” I said
When the snow locked us in
We couldn’t even see outside
Your hair shone a halo in the light
“You look like an angel” I thought
Shelter in tender arms was sought
Your beauty soft as snow
You shone all aglow
And then you slept with no wake
Angels had come for you
I wished it was not true
You were my angel, my dream
And now I wake to my lonely scream
You were an angel on loan to me
I had never deserved your beauty
When again I see your face
We will never be in this lonely place
A kiss on cold stone
You were the only angel I have known
