A fallen leaf
Lay there in my path
For some reason I stopped to stare
At this pattern against the stone
A flare in the darkness hence
But I had not the time to stay and stare
For another voice tickled and the back of my mind
A calm sensuous voice
Preying on my weakness
In control of my very thoughts
She came into my life one day
Leaking in
Bashing down the door
And taking domain
Inside my thoughts
For weeks at a time
She would take control
And I would stare and watch myself
Through anothers eyes
As my own two hands did what I would not
Her eyes were closed
His were open
Once green pasture
Now cloudy heights
The bleeding holes
Where the bullets met
The gun still smoking
Their rings upon the others fingers
Their kiss cut short by malevolence
Their hands still intertwined
The families were all subdued
By my hands
Yet they were not
And as I walked away from the desecrated place
Fire billowing out the stained glass windows
I awoke
To my hands covered in blood
But the thing was
It wasn't mine
Her ebbing heat
Lay next to mine
Her throat a grinning smile
A calm sereneness upon here face
I wept
And before I knew it
Again she was in control
I was wearing a polished suit
All trim and neat
A woman standing next to me
An engaging little smile upon her face
A bouquet in her hands
I slipped the ring upon her finger
And she on mine
Our kiss burned into my mind
And then the world devolved into madness
The windows burst
Glass was everywhere
There was billowing smoke
And dark shapes
People screaming
My wife to be
Lay on the floor
Writhing in a pool of blood
Hands clenched into herself
Her eyes open wide
Her mouth open in mere shock
And what did I?
If you must know
I broke their hearts
Completely through
With a single thrust
Of my fist
Flames danced before my eyes
Was she ever angry
After she was done
Not one remain could be found
Ever
As in a daze
I staggered over
To what remained of my sweetheart
My shell to its knees
And cradled
Sobbing
Her
The one I truly loved
The one I would do best right
No matter how I felt
Because that is what love is
We left that place
I don't know how
But my body made it
With its soul still attached
I opened my eyes
Blurred by my tears were they
The white apartment where I resided
I was home again
With what little remained of my sanity
I reached for the gun
Which I knew was at my side
And held it to my head
Ready to commit suicide
The hammer cocked
The bullets loaded
The finger tense
Then she took over again
I saw the pistol fly
Across the room
But fate was on my side
The gun went off
I felt the bullet hit my side
Shredding flesh
Hitting organs
Rending life from its earthly vessel
I fell to floor
As she screamed in my head
Which fell to a low whisper
As my lifeblood
Bonded with the floor
Falling down though the cracks
Slipping down the rusting pipes
past the bodies beneath the boards
Thrusting up into the light
The liquid seeping into their ghostly frames
Causing something to happen
The flesh to mend the soul re-inter
Its bindings re-create
And up from bellow they rise
A second chance bestowed
Upon ones taken too soon
Given a gift
From one who had no chance
The gift of life
What more can a man or woman give?
