MONEY TREE



the money tree now has only pennies for fruit
since Greed has harvested all its bigger bills
but she is only a farmer of the poorest of kinds
since she sows no seeds and never has any yield
and even the poor chose the nickels off its shoots
when Greed was done and Poverty picked his fill
because we will always have the proud and wealthy blind
for that truth, the rich are always with us is real
and the learned know nothing important I am sure
they speak but their words no one else can understand
and since Grecian times at least their folly yet endures
yet knowing Greed and Poverty fools aid their plans
nothing ever changes and no one does anything
things go on as they always have as all want tomorrow brings

I loved the line "the learned know nothing important.' You're very talented and this is a great poem. The withering of the tree really helped me understand the message of the poem.
