Slowly walks forth
A young girl,
Fifteen at most,
Scared.
Carrying her glossy instrument
Warily
As if it was going to attack her
If the audience didn’t to first.
Upon reaching the stage,
She shudders slightly,
Before placing the violin
Upon her slender shoulders
Then she starts to play
Haunting notes, at first
Before gaining more courage
And executing daring stunts
Sliding up the fingerboard,
Vibrato rings out.
She closes her eyes contently,
Smiling lightly.
But she is just warming up.
Her notes become wild,
While still maintaining
The same melodic tune
She sways gently in beat
To her own music
Remembering countless pages
Of music that used to frustrate her so
And soon she is done.
Her eyes snap open
Almost in shock
She had forgotten where she was
She blushes
As the audience, once merciless
Applauds vociferously
And she smiles; she had done it.
