• A separate peace is sought
    in love and things they taught,
    but never quite achieved.
    Grief comes and stays and leaves.
    One overcomes the pain,
    but life still says the same
    with blood and sweat and tears.
    There is no comfort with one's peers-
    because they all will die,
    and then the sky will cry.
    A separate peace cannot be reached.
