Shadows slide stealthily across the alley snow
Silently embracing the solemn space
Snaking eerily while staying slow
Slavishly showering sadness on the little girl's face
Wishing to wile away the long winter night
Woefully wondering whether she would make it through
Weeping with her sorrowful small candlelight
Willing in all her small strength to keep it true
Remembering ruefully of what used to be
Reminiscent remains of her reality run away
Rash winds of winter rake her wholly
Sending her shivering till there's nothing she can say
Clutching candles tightly in frostbitten hands,
Striking all in hope for some memory of heat
Ravaging winter relinquishes not its plans
Snuffing the flame of feat
Delusioned by dreams of daily desperation
Dropping the candles like dreams of her life
Dreading now all her aspiration
Desire to fall into death's arms no longer seems a strife
Lampposts' light lingers on the lifeless shell
Laments of love for the little soul
Who had never felt love nor begun life to tell
Lying so forlorn, never to grow old
