Before the purple veil of dawn fell down
Venus and Mars parted and went their way
Venus wept and shed tears upon her gown
While Mars lay in the monotone English bay
In her Egyptian garden she stood sane
Wondering when this scourge had cascaded
Remembering the revelry and rain!
So, never were they infatuated
He stared at the stars, thinking of only her
Lost in heavenly labyrinthine bliss
In his soft Venus-scented coat of fur
He cried for they ever cease to exist
In a golden room full of Greek incense
Both will never know their putrid distance
