Let them flow, these tears of yours
Reason is not like water, for it is unessential
Have they taken their shoulders from you?
Here’s mine, don’t worry – it’s alright to be sad
Shout, scream, blame the world freely
Let loose that rage, burning like an unstoppable fire
They say ‘stop, it’s not smart’ – cast them aside
Intelligence is your own – it’s alright to be angry
It’s false, they say? To them, it may be
You decide what it is, and know that you’re right
Temporary, though it may be, seek what you desire
Let the joy fill you up, no matter what – it’s alright to be happy
Is it clear like the sky, or chaotic like the stars?
The truth isn’t always so obvious
Take your time, in this pursuit of meaning and reality
Proof may deny, but faith will not waver – it’s alright to be confused
It’s so powerful, but that’s what makes it fearsome
Beyond attraction, encompassing lust, two people bonded as one
You long and are longed for, and separation? Like knives to the skin
If it’s true, it can survive anything and everything – it’s alright to love
Natural, biological, unavoidable? Perhaps
If you feel it, be careful – let it be a feeling, not a passion
For when your being is behind it, it may consume and destroy you
Even so, you’re free – act on it thusly – it’s alright to want
Dare you ask ‘Am I here?’
If you ask how or why, you may never find out
So many answers, only you know which one is right
See, breathe, do, be, however you wish – it’s alright to exist
A friend, an enemy, a planet, a speck
Love everyone, threaten anyone, deny all, accept nothing
In the end, you shape your own self and destiny
And through it all, remember
Whatever you are
Whatever you were
Whatever you will become
It’s alright to be
