On this Christmas Eve
The candles burn so bright
An evergreen stands
With the garland shimmering
From the little lights
Decorations
Dress up this empty house
Stockings hung by the fireplace
Gifts lay under the tree
Ready for Christmas day
The fire slowly dims
Telling its time for bed
All you hear are the footsteps
Of tired but excited children
Waiting for that special day
The Christmas star shines so brightly
Snow falls with graceful silence
Neighbors lighting the darkness
Guiding jolly old Saint Nick
Sun rises over a winter wonderland
The icicles glisten
From the welcome light
The screams and laughter
Of children’s delight
Echo as they run for the awaiting sight
It’s Christmas day and
The people cheer with delight
Exchange of gifts and holiday spirit
A love is passed from person to person
Giving joy to all who are near
Family and friends come your way
Bring cheer and joy and a little wine
A Christmas feast ready for
Many to come and enjoy
There’s singing and laughter
Along with crying
As Christmas comes our way
We share the time that we
Have with one another and
Sing out for all to hear

- Title: Eyes of Christmas
- Artist: Goddess of Frozen Hearts
- Description: I wrote this on a snow, and well, Christmas is getting so close. Everyone is getting excited and the best to look at that are the children who believe so much in Santa. Its amazing to see the life and joy they share.

In spite of its simplicity of composition, I really love that this is a completely unpretentious poem that salutes tradition and honestly evokes the season and the pure, loving feeling that comes with it.
This is the kind of poem that Gaia needs more of, instead of "deep", self-pitying monologues. - Report As Spam
