• Her eyes fluttered open at the sound of an ambulance,
She turned her head slowly to the clock sitting on her nightstand.
2:58. Sighing, she turned her head to face the ceiling once again.
She tried to sleep for what seemed like hours,
    Uneasy thoughts kept her awake.
She could hear the breathing of her sister, the groaning of her brother,
The beating of her own heart.
    All she could think was
How she could make it seem normal, How to forget it.
How she should react; How she would react.
She turned to look at the clock again.
    2:59.
She looked back up, annoyed by the way time seemed to slow down.
Again she tried to sleep, this time closing her eyes, trying harder.
The same questions came to her train of thought.
    She opened her eyes, frustrated.
Perhaps these questions would be easier to answer
If she knew the problem; the situation.
She then glanced at the clock.
    2:58.
