Slithers and hisses in the darkness
Covered in woe, sorrow, and misery.
From carefully contained cold in the darkness,
A creature calls out to me
“Listen here, child,
Listen very carefully.
Be not afraid of the shadows,”
He spoke, sorrowfully.
“I have but a word to share,”
He called, as shivers took me,
“Fear is not ever-gripping.
In fact, I can help you, should you help me.”
At this I started,
Screaming and crying ever so pitifully.
Yet the creature in his shadows stops.
He leans down to comfort me.
“My child, reject the demons of fear,
For they cannot hurt thee.
Listen and understand, oh dear child,”
He coos, his voice calming me.
“I seek shelter, I seek light.
In this darkness, I find only me.
Now I find you,
Yet you try to flee.”
“Please be my light, for which
I have searched despairingly.
In return, I shall be yours
To comfort you as you have me.”
The creature stops speaking.
Ever so gracefully
He leaps from the shadows,
And reveals himself to me.
His wings are marvelous,
His radiance brilliant as can be,
A flaming flamberge at his side,
And a kilt woven skillfully.
His face is pure.
His eyes are ever misty,
As he gazes upon his own Savior from the darkness,
As he gazes upon me.
“From this day on,
Wander shall we.
But in purpose and hope!
No longer in this darkness and misery.”
He speaks firm,
Ringing tones ever steady.
He grabs my hand and we walk on.
My Darkness Angel and me.

Description:
When I wrote this I thought, "Why doth the mourning dove cry? Where arst thoust beloved?"
The poem evolved from a thought into a dark road. A dove crying. A girl afraid, and my Angel. - Date: 10/26/2008
