• There a lonely child sits,

On the corner of Main and 6th.

    Thinking back on years past,

    He remembers, eyes glassed.

    Why me God? he cries,

Gently wiping his tear stricken eyes.

    He softly touches the scar,

From when Daddy got back from the bar.

    NO! STOP! was the plead

As Mommys nose began to bleed.

Run, Baby! Run! was the last thing he heard,

Before the gun shots startled the sleeping birds.

    He ran and hid,

    Just as any other kid.

    Minutes turned to hours,

    As the boys still cowers.

    Under the cot,

    Rang out one final shot.

He escapes from under the bed,

Where once, he rested his sleepy head.

    He peeks through the door,

Only to find Mommy and Daddy lying on the floor.

    There a lonely child sits,

On the corner of Main and 6th.
