What am I?

I sparkle and shine when lit by the moon
I am warm in summer at high noon
When you feel down or want to reflect
Come to me and I show respect

In being hushed while you talk
While you think, you can take a walk
And I will always be beside you
Even if you bring someone else along too

I do not get jealous, nor act in vain
I too, understand great pain
I've met many people, traveled the world
I've lived many years, seen many things unfurl

All senses can be used to describe me
To meet me requires no actual key
Because my home is all around
I an never lost, but always found

I am used as a transport
For distances long and short
I am home to many animals, old and new
I may also, in some way, be a home to you too

Come on now don't be shy
Try and guess; what am I?
