CHAPTER 3! Woot woot.
"Once upon a time? How cliche." I mutter draining my orange juice. How did he get it to taste so wonderful? I wonder peering inside the cup. "Do you want to hear the story or what?" Jesse asks angrily.
"Touchy touchy. Sorry. You may continue." I give him my best "I'm paying close attention to you" look. He grins. "Anyway. Once upon a time, there lived a very beautiful woman named Estelle. Her husband Tristen and her were one of the most powerful people in my world. They kept the peace between my world and yours."
Jesse pauses, but continues, "Esmeralda, the woman from the dance, was powerful too, but she was an evil and cynical woman. She wanted to destroy Estelle and Tristen. But there was only one way to do that. They had to be seperated. And I'm not talking "going to a grocery store" seperated either. Usually only a spell can work, or they could stop loving each other, which was almost impossible because they loved each other too much." I tried to hide my gagging from him. Sorry, I'm just not into that love stuff, you know?
"Esmeralda came up with a plan. Long story short, she seperated and killed them both. Lucy, when you seperate two soulmates, it's like ripping a heart out of someone. It's like you can no longer live. When she seperated them, they were almost powerless. It's kind of like an emblem to show that love is the key to power."
I was trying not to, but I was getting wrapped up in the story. I could see Tristen with his curly mane of auburn hair, and Estelle, her flowing- wait! How did I know this?
Suddenly, I noticed Jesse. His beautiful bronze face had turned anxious. It looked hot on him. He, I hadn't noticed, had been inching his way from me. "Lucy, please! Don't get angry, okay? Please listen to me first, okay?" My stomach suddenly started churning and my fists clenched. "Jesse..." I whispered cautiously, "Spit it out!" I knew I was not going to like what I was about to hear.
Jesse breathed in before he spoke, "We have a legend or prophecy, whatever you call it, that states that a girl from this generation would be the reincarnation of Estelle and she would be the one who would save us from Esmeralda. You, Lucy, are that girl."
I burst into laughter. "You think I, Lucy Morgan, a girl who can barely walk on nothing without tripping, will save you from that witch? Ha ha." I try to stiffle my laughter when he shoots me with a death glare. No, seriously! If looks could kill, I'd be dead.
"I'm serious!" he shouts jumping from the bed. I suddenly realize he really is. You know...this would make a lot of sense. "I know." I whisper. "And I don't mind." Hey, any chance to rip out that chicks hair was fine with me. Jesse stares at me in disbelief. "You don't care that you'll have to pretty much have to throw your ife away for this?" Um, what was he talking about. I thought we were going to go settle this now?
"Jesse, obviously, the only reason a crazy woman would try to attack me is because I either have something she wants or because I AM what she wants." I suddenly laughed. "You thought I'd be mad about this? I don't have that bad of temper." I was actually kind of hurt, even if he barely knew me.
"Lucy! You don't understand what I'm trying to tell you!" he hisses, "Lucy...this place that you're in is a boardingschool for my people, or for "special" students. Lucy...you're not going back to your old school. Or back to your home, for a while at least. Lucy...your kind of stuck here."
My fists clenched once again as the realization sunk in. Jesse, stepped back a little, worried. It was a good thing too. I had finally lost it.
That, I think, is when I lunged for him.
