The figure in the dark spoke.
"I have to say, this isn't like you."
He spoke in a rough voice, hardly comprehensible and utterly inhuman. His red eyes pierced through the shadow. A girl sat perched on the edge of the building, her name was Sarah and her intentions were clear.
The night was open, stars shone down illuminating the bustling city below. Among them was the moon, brighter and fuller than it had ever been in the past. It was on this most important of nights that the city seemed hushed, as if holding it's breath in anticipation.
"So what.." Sarah replied, weakly. One could tell she had given up hope.
She turned, facing the figure in the dark. Her light blue eyes rivaled those of The Watcher. She sat in silence, not saying a word. The Watcher intended to do the same.
Sarah grimaced, "You really have to speak more." she advised.
"Yes, I suppose I should." The Watcher said emotionless.
The Watcher's eyes were pure red. There would be no way to tell where he was looking easily, but Sarah could feel them make contact with her own. It sent shivers down her spine.
"Are you going to try stop me?" Asked Sarah, challenging the being before her.
The moon shined brighter, lighting up Sarah s pure white hair. The Watcher stood still, his dark leathery wings now visible.
"That's for you to decide."
Sarah turned, looking down to the floor below. The concrete below called out ominously, begging for her to jump, for her to end the life she deemed worthless. The pain of living had become to much for her to bare. All her life she had been alone, only The Watcher cared to stick around. She couldn't judge whether The Watcher genuinely cared, or he just wanted to entertain himself.
"You know," he begun. "I've stood by your side since you were young. I should be able to read you like a book. Yet..." He stopped. A wind had picked up, sending a chill down the back of even The Watcher.
Sarah looked away from the edge, turning back to The Watcher as he continued to speak.
"There's just something wrong with this situation. The woman standing before me is strong willed, tough as nails and very entertaining to be around."
"People can change." Sarah countered, sternly.
"I suppose you're right," The Watcher said, turning away. "There's still so much more of your life left, this shouldn't be happening." He sounded noticeably troubled.
Sarah ignored him and turned back to the edge. "Just.. leave me alone." she said, even weaker than before.
He could not intervene, all he could do was watch as the woman he had watched grow up ended her life. He stood emotionless, staring at the spot she once stood.
He extended his wings as clouds appeared in the sky. The moon had disappeared behind the vast display.
"Such a waste." He said, disappearing into the night.
