“Come come dears!” Smiled a beautiful tall woman, her hair was a firey red and her eyes shared the same quality. She led two young campers, Yulen and Inu, both the girls were twins with green eyes, black hair and wearing green summer clothing, into her cabin where she had an excellent meal prepared for them.
“Whats all this for?” Asked Inu, who had her arms crossed and was glaring at the counselor.
“For winning the contest of course! you both made the best dream catchers so you both get a nice meal! my treat!” Grinned Ai, the head camp counselor. Yulen smiled.
“I hope its good! Come on Inu!” She cheered as she went to take her seat, Inu grudgingly followed.
They ate quietly for a good while, the food was delicious, chicken nicely simmered in a sweet sauce on a bed of wild rice, Ai grinned at them.
“Do you like it?” She asked happily, Yulen nodded and smiled.
“It’s yummy!!” She smiled. “What do you think, Inu?”
“It’s fine.” She responded, still glaring at the counselor as she ate. after a few more seconds Ai left the room, and reentered holding a porcelain doll with tan skin, wide brown eyes and long black hair. it was adorned in a beautiful blue and white victorian dress and had a wide hat on top of its little head.
“Here, I thought you two may enjoy it.”
“It’s… Pretty.” Answered Yulen a bit forced. “But.. i like stuffed animals more..”
Inu looked at it. “Those porcelain ones look really weird… and creepy.”
“But its not just any porcelain doll!” Smiled Ai as she set it down, she made motions and suddenly the doll glew brightly, the two girls stared until the light died down, when it did, the porcelain doll turned to yulen, she jumped.
“Hell...o….” Spoke the little doll, it turned his head to look around the room.
“nice… home…” It quietly said, it turned its body to Yulen.
“mom...my…” It said happily, reaching its arms out to Yulen, like it was reaching for a hug.
Yulen looked terrified at it.
“It’s moving?!?!” She screamed.
“yep! i gave it a spirit!! all it wants is a hug from its new mommy!”
“mommy?”
“Yep! she just wants love! shes really harmless.”
“i dont know about that- EEP!” She screamed as the poor little doll tried pulling on its sleeve, as she did Yulen swung its arm at it, and knocked the doll off the table. the landing resounded in a loud crash as the little doll was shattered to pieces, Ai looked at it sadly.
“Oh no… the poor thing…” She said as she swept it up.
“S-sorry…” whispered Yulen as she ran out, Inu ran close behind.
“Nice job idiot.” Said Inu as they walked back together.
“It was an accident!” she complained, suddenly they both felt the wind pick up, and a whisper echoed through the night.
“mom..my..”
Yulen turned.
“Please tell me you heard that.”
“I did… doesnt sound good…” As Inu said that they saw several cabin lamps exploded, and the campers within them scream and ran out quickly.
“What’s going on?!” Yelled Inu as they ran over.
“Some weird light was glowing in our room! and the lightbulbs all just exploded! Tatania and Aubry arent waking up!” Screamed a girl, Inu ran in to see the two girls, they were similar to Inu and Yulen in that they both had black hair. They were pale, but alive, Inu walked out and was thinking.
“Damn witch..” She mumbled, Yulen looked at her.
“What is it?”
“Remember what aunt Ame said about ghosts?”
Yulen seem frightened. “Oh no..”
“Oh yeah… nice job you twit, the doll is looking for you after you broke it!”
“I-it was an accident!!” yelped Yulen worriedly.
“Accident or not we need to get rid of it. and i think i know how.”
“Yay! you have a plan?”
“yep… HEY! DOLL!!” she shouted, Yulen stared at her wide eyed as a blue little orb formed in front of them. Inu pointed at Yulen. “Here’s your mommy.” She looked at Inu. “Run-” She didnt even need to finish her sentence and she was gone.
“And now to craft services.” She said as she ran off.
* * *
Yulen was running faster than she thought she could as the white orb was behind her chasing. Yulen ran into the bathroom and ran to the farthest stall and locked it trying to hide from it. The orb checked every stall, causing the plumbing to go haywire and the lightbulb of each shatter everytime it passed it. Finally it reached the final stall, but in Yulen’s place was one shoe and a wide open high window. The spirit followed suit.
Yulen was running away from the bathroom and up ahead heard Inu calling out to her.
“Over here dingbat!!” She shouted as Yulen got closer, she noticed Inu had made a large green dreamcatcher and was holding up. understanding what was happening she stopped and looked around for the spirit, sure enough, it was following Yulen quickly. Yulen ran again and managed to jump behind the dream catcher just in time for the spirit to be tangled in it. Yulen sighed heavily in relief.
“Thank goodness…” she whispered as she looked at the spirit, she heard it whispering again, only they werent whispers. they were quiet whimpers and pleas for her mommy, Yulen. Yulen understanding walked away.
“Where are you going?” Asked Inu.
“I will be back in a sec…”
Moments later Yulen came back with a stuffed little rabbit, Inu looked at it.
“Whats that for?”
“Well… after thinking about it i realized she didnt want to hurt us…” She said as she held the rabbit up to the dream catcher. The spirit slowly morphed within it and its little eyes glowed to life, Yulen picked it up and held it close.
“Mommy…?” said the little rabbit, Yulen smiled.
“yes? sorry about that!” she smiled as she pet its head.
“Let’s head to bed!
The little spirit seemed delighted.
“Yes mommy!!”
Yulen walked away and Inu followed.
Later that night the spirit was fast asleep, curled close to Yulens chest, Yulen and Inu were bunkmates so Inu was right above them.
“Inu?” Whispered Yulen.
“Yeah?” She responded quietly.
“That was a nice thing you did…”
“what?”
“The doll… I know you knew ways to destroy it, but you didnt… It was sweet of you…”
There was silence.
“Whatever.” She said finally. “Just get some sleep.”
Yulen giggled.
“Okay, nighty.
“Goodnight.”
