It was the first day of the summer festival at the Aichi High school. It is a 10thgraders’paradise. On this night, the most unbelievable things happened. It wasn’t tragic, it was quite a beauty.
It was Sora’s second year at the festival. For him, it was a day to remember. “Let’s go over to the fishing game! I’m bound to catch one this year.” Kyo said excitedly. Sora gave him a cold shoulder. “After these two years? It’d be a real miracle.” Kyo was pretty depressed after that comment. So he left Sora and went over to the booth with a hope and prayer. Sora was pretty annoyed because his family had gone on vacation to America. He blames himself for not going because well, he didn’t have an interest in many things; only his studies and itty-bitty relationships with his friends. He is an honest fellow, sweet and kind and adorable. Just not at the moment. All he wanted to do was go home because he was tired of the same thing every year.
It was near New Year’s, 11:45 to be exact. Sora began to take a walk, because he was getting tired of all the ‘fun.’ He stopped and relaxed by the school pond—about a half a mile away from the premises. He sat there and looked at the water, as it sparkled from the moon. Sora could hear the noise of students and the excitement. Everyone was gathering around the middle of the fair, soon staring the New Year’s count down. He sat there, and closed his eyes. He was with them, but at a distance. A very long distance.
“Sora-kun?” He heard Rika say timidly. Sora felt a strong shiver going down his spine. “Sempai..” He corrected. She wasn’t the first candidate for him to talk to. “Oops, I’m sorry. Sora-sempai.” He wasn’t in the mood for her majesty. He got up and started walking. Rika soon started running behind him. When she made it up to him, she grabbed his sweaters sleeve. “I need to tell you something…It’s kinda important.”Sora paused for a minute, a bit surprised, and slowly asked, “What is it?” The count down for New Year’s began. There was a long pause between the two of them, until at five, “I”, then four, “really”, three, “think” two, “I” one, “love you.” Happy New Year’s! Sora quickly turned his head staring at the colorful fireworks. He didn’t hear her. “Well?” She said bashfully. “I’m sorry, what was it you said?” Rika’s face grew straight and emotionless. Her fists clenched and her face was a tomato. “BAKA!” She yelled. She went into a rage and ran away. To be honest, He could care less. Although, he gave a troubled look, and walked away. “I hope that wasn’t another confession…” He said to himself.
It was officially a new year. Five minutes after it really. Sora began walking around the pleasant area and stared at the sky. He counted stars, and looked at the moon. To him, he thought it kept getting brighter. As if, something was adding a magnificent light to it. He squinted his eyes and saw a brilliant shooting star coming closer, and closer, and closer.
