It is a dark and quiet night.....the air is cold and crisp....as if death itself lingers somewhere within the shadows....within the dark abyss. I am alone....the feeling of remorse and regret flowing through me... as if it seeks to only cause me pain. I am cold and shivering... afraid of the shadows that draw near. There is an old man.... walking down the streets...he is also alone.
He sits on a bench underneath the moonlight.... tired and worn from a long day of roaming. His coat is torn and his hair is tangled and shaggy. There are bags underneath his eyes from lack of sleep...and dirt upon his face. He spots me and gives me a sincere and sweet smile... and I could not help but smile back. "you seem upset," He said with a pause. "Tell me what is troubling you." He said as he patted the spot beside him. I gladly sit down beside the old man and I whisper sadly. "I have ran away from my life...and I regret every word i had said to my family." I said with tears within in my eyes. "I see.... but you can go back..." He said with a small worn smile. "how can I? They would hate me for sure." I said regretfully...tears stinging within my eyes. "you know..." He said kindly...his eyes filled with a sense of creativity and reassurance. "You cant go through life regretting the past....you have to learn to face it with all your heart...and to never forget who you are...otherwise you might just end up on the streets like i had. I was just like you....." He paused remembering his past. "I had ran away from my life...trying to escape from the sadness and guilt within my heart...but as i grew older.... I had realized that I had made a terrible mistake..which i could have avoided if i had listened to my old friend." He said mournfully...before regarding me with a smile of reassurance. "But you can prevent what had happened to me long ago. You have the bravery and courage of a youthful young man and you have the power to do whatever you wish...to be whatever you want to be. You must go and fallow your heart. Go back to your family and be sincere...tell them how sorry your are..and that you regret every word you said. Then you will surely find forgiveness. 'Remember to forgive everyone...before they do something that hurts you and you will most likely be forgiven in return." He smiles and gives me a reassuring pat on the back before getting up. "just think about it.... and i am very certain...answers will be given." He says to me as he starts to walk away. "Just fallow your heart." He says before disappearing down the road. I smile as a glimmer of hope lights up within my soul. I get up and walk towards my family's house...To apologize for everything I had said. Who would have thought that even in the most unlikely of places you can find a unlikely friend.
