• Recap"Thanks for the reassurance," I said smiling back at him. The doorbell rang a second after I said so. "Seems like we have our other guest here," I said aloud.

"Matt go get it," Alastair said.

"Why me? Mae's capable, and she's your sister!" Matt busted out.

"Mae's my guest, not yours, and my sister wouldn't mind seeing her enemy again," Alastair said. Over their bickering I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Looking there was a man that came down mumbling what seemed like Matt and Alastair were lazy.

Next thing we heard was the door open, and a girl yelling "Daddy~! It's so good to see you~!" Alastair's sister Rachel had arrived.

The man that had come down the stairs, which I suppose was Alastair's dad, had Rachel still clinging to around his neck. She let go suddenly at the sight of me, and came over putting her hand out to shake hands. " Hi there you must be Mae! I'm Alastair's sister Rachel, you probably already know that though," She said then gave a small smile while I shook her hand.

"Yeah I am Mae. It's nice to meet you," I greeted back. I then watched her sit on the coach. She started looking around the room when she saw Matt come back in with another chicken leg. I didn't even notice his leave, but when I looked back at Rachel she had a sort of glare at him. Matt seemed pretty happy with his chicken till he opened his eyes again from taking a bite of the bird. The meat almost fell when he just starred with his mouthing gapping.

"Hey Matty," Rachel said now giving him a playful smile.

Matt had some what lost his color from seeing his old rival from childhood in front of him, and he just smiled back at her, then took the seat furthest from her to get away. A couple of seconds later Dawn came in and told us dinner was ready. Everybody filed into the dinning room to take their seats, and seeing I was the last one I had to take the seat the was in between Alastair and his dad. I took my seat which made me a bit nervous, seeing as Alastair's dad hasn't spoke yet. 'Maybe he's the silent type that just doesn't talk much,' I thought to myself.

Dawn then came out with what looked like pork covered in some sort of sauce, also some veggies around the side of it, and in the other hand that she was carrying on it was some sort of I think potato salad.

"I hope you all like the food! Especially you Mae seeing as your our guest," I smiled at her since she was being so kind. Everybody started dishing out there servings and Alastair handed me a plate before everything had been eaten. I took a bite and the food tasted greet. I was expecting it to be pork, but it wasn't, I wasn't completely sure what it was.

"Uhm dawn?" I asked sort of quietly.

"Yes what is it?" She asked., surprisingly able to hear me over all the chatter.

"What is this I don't think I've had this sort of meat before. It's great just like Alastair said it would be," I told her.

"Oh it's lamb, and Alastair is far to nice he always compliments me on my cooking," She said taking a bite of her salad.

"But mom your the best cook I know of," Alastair said to her, she just smiled back and kept eating.

Everything had been going well since I arrived. The family was nice, the food was good and so far Alastair's sister hadn't beaten me up yet. I give myself an A+! I looked over to see that there was actually a family portrait up above on the wall across from me. Everybody seemed to be dressed up in eighteenth century clothing which was kind of interesting.

"I see you've noticed the picture Mae," Said a deeper voice from my left. I looked to see that it was actually Alastair's dad, but he didn't have his mouth open or anything, like most people do after they speak.

"Uhm yeah it's nice," I said awkwardly to him. "Is it your family in the picture they look quite a lot like all of you," I commented on what I thought of the picture in front of us.

"No it's actually some of our ancestors from quite long ago," Dawn said answering my question. I looked towards Dawn then back at her husband. "Sorry Fredrick doesn't speak much," She smiled kindly at me then continued. "WE actually found it in one of the old houses we lived in the our family had owned for a very long time till we moved," She explained to me how they had gotten it.

"Well that's good that you found it at least. Be a shame if anybody else had found it," I said looking back up at the picture. "They really do look like you though," I said again.

"Yeah isn't it great!" Rachel said smiling. "Now I would know what I'd looked like in that sort of stuff, even though the girl in the picture isn't me," She said this and then winked at her brother.

As we continued to eat and chat, Dawn had brought out some dessert for us to eat, it was delicious like always. It was time for me to leave, with Matt now, and go home. We said our good byes, and left.

    Alastair's POV.

Mae had left after dessert thanking us for our hospitality, and then left. I turned to look at my family. "So what do you think of her?" I questioned seeing as my parents wanted to see the girl I had chosen for a bride, which Mae was still unaware of.

"She seems quite intuitive to me," My father spoke without opening his mouth seeing as he was a mute, but his telepathy aloud him to speak with his mind. "Worried me a bit when she noticed the picture though," He said.

"Yes she noticed that we looked similar to it which we were them, but we were young. And the too of you were just so cute, as children too!" Dawn cooed at her children proudly.

"I don't like her," Rachel said. The rest of the family stared at her like she was crazy. "What she's too normal for you Alastair! You need somebody who's like exotic!" Alastair stared at her like she was crazy still.

"I shall chose who I want Rachel, your opinion about her looks matters to me I like her the way she is," Alastair said starring at her.

"Well whatever," Rachel said flipping her dark hair. "If you break her heart, it's not my fault," Rachel said.

"Yes and those so called "exotic girls you are talking about would be more likely to have their heart broken than Mae would," Alastair said. Rachel glared at Alastair, and her brother glared right back. "What you want to fight now don't you?" Alastair asked Rachel.

"You bet I do, but I'm not willing to break this house, when mommy and daddy are here," Rachel said. She began to walk up the stairs. "I'm going up stairs to go work on something," she said. Rahcel had slammed her door at the last moment possible.

"She's going to climb out the window like a rebellious teenager isn't she," Fred asked through telepathy.

"Yep seems that way again darling," Dawn said to her husband, as they heard light thunks on top of the roof.

"Is she ever going to grow up?" Alastair asked looking at his parents.

"Honey we're vampires, we'll never grow up," His mom told him bluntly with a smile. She walked over kissed his forehead, and then began walking towards the kitchen. "I am going to clean up now can I get some help?" Her husband began to follow her right after.

"What do you need help with?" Her husband asked.

"Will you dry the dishes?" She asked.

"Yes honey," He answered back obediently. I watched as my parents walked into the kitchen. I had nothing better to do so I went outside to go to Matt's house. He knew I'd pop up in random moments breaking into his house just to have some company, since he was my only friend. Heading out I remembered since Matt was a werewolf he'd probably be hungry by the time he arrived to his house again.

I was in the middle of the city and got some Chinese for the both of us. As I headed to the other side of the city where Matt's house was, I noticed what I was going for. I wanted some support on what to do with Mae once she found out about how she'd be my bride, I'm a vampire, Matt's a werewolf and there are so many other creatures out there that could hurt her.

I was in front of Matt's house now. He owned a smaller house than what I owned, but it was nice still. Everything was clean, in it's place, and organized just like how Matt liked it. I made my way to the backyard, I began to climb my way up the tree, and then unlocked his bedroom window where I usually climbed in.

Making my way down the stairs, I headed into his living room. There was nothing to do here, but sit and wait, so I decided to watch his TV, and run his electricity bill up a bit more. Waiting here I thought I'd scare Matt, like the few times I've actually done it, since I knew he'd forgive me, and we were friends.

Flipping through the channels I finally decided on the show House. In my opinion the doctor was mean, yes, but it was the only thing that was actually amusing in my mind. As I watched my eyes grew heavy. I've had no sleep in a long time. Looking at the door it seemed safe enough to say I could take a nap without Matt popping in and trying to scare me.

Closing my eyes I went into my mind where my dreams could be free. Everything started to become clearer, the dream was when I was very young just a child actually. My family and I had gone out that day to go find an old family necklace that had just a single peridot gem hanging from it, that had been passed down in the family since we don't know when.

We had just entered the market place that was full of different creates. Fish people, werewolf's, encantados, and even the little fairies flying around minding their business.

We made our way through the market only to come to a merchants shop. Pushing the little curtain that was used for a door, we went in. Behind that counter top was a weasely looking man, short, and he looked like he hadn't bathed in days. Staying back I watched my father, as he made his way towards the man.

"How may I help you?" He asked my father.

My father walked in and took off his hood to his cloak, the rest of us left ours on. "I want to know if you seen this?" My father placed a picture of the necklace on the merchants table. "It's an artifact of my family's," he explained further through his telepathy not opening his mouth.

The man looked at it for a bit, then ran his fingers through his gangly hair. "I don't seem to recall it that much, my mind is just a tad foggy," The man explained basically asking for some sort of payment for information. My father then threw the merchant a gold coin. "Yes I seem to remember a young man now, your height, brown hair, but his eyes were orange, not red like yours sir," He explained while placing the coin in his little money box. "He wore it around his neck, so it was obvious to see," he said smiling back up to him. "That's all I know," He finished.

"Well then thank you," He said thanking the merchant for the information. As we were leaving , my father led my mother by the small of her back, and I grabbed Rachel's hand.

"Wait sir!" The merchant yelled calling the attention of my father back.

    "What?" He asked.

"I seemed to recall something else this man," He said. "He had five pure white tails, he wasn't some sort of human half breed, or a vampire," My father rose an eyebrow at this.

"Really?" My father seemed intrigued by this. My mother grabbed my father's arm.

"That means he was a kitsune," She said looking at the small man and my father. "Thank you for this extra information," She said to him. My father then tossed another coin. And started leading my mother again by the small of her back, while I went to grab Rahcel's hand again. I looked back up towards the man, and he gave me an odd smile with his unkept teeth. Smiling back since that's how my parents had taught me to be polite.

I heard my parents yell for us, and started dragging my sister along behind me, on our way out. The reason why we were looking for this necklace is that it held powers only certain people could imagine, and if it fell into the wrong hands something could go terribly wrong.

I finally made it back to my parents when I heard Matt's door creak, as he came back into the house it was time to have some fun scaring him, and getting questions of my chest about what to do with Mae once she finds out about my family, and I being vampires, Matt being a were and everything else that happened to be out there.

Also since I broke into his house again I'd probably get a lecture from him too, oh well.
