It was late at night when Lila woke to an unpleasant sound. She rubbed her eyes and crawled over to her soaking window. The window was drenched in drops of rain racing each other to the sill. Lila scrunched her nose up and pushed on the window to open it. A sudden gust of wind carried rain and cold icy air into her room and she scratched her nose turning her back to the wind. She turned back to the window once the wind had stopped, although the rain was still pouring in.
Lila closed her window, apparently the wind had moaned against her window and scared her. She sighed and walked over the wooden floorboard towards her bed. She sat on her messy sheets and ran her hand through her, some what, wet hair. She laid back on her bed hard and felt something poke her back. Lila quickly sat up and looked behind her for what it was. She found a piece of paper folded many times tucked just under her bed sheet.
The paper had been folded about four times and Lila repeated the folds backwards opening the paper to see cursive styled hand writing that looked like a clumsy boys hand. She began to read it aloud laying belly first on the mattress.
“Dear Lila, you probably don’t know me but I know you inside and out. I’m making sure you get this letter because it is important to let you know of this,” she mumbled the words clumsily in her night slur.
