• The twilight sky changed into its different color gowns. It went from a pale blue sky, to a musky gray, with some tropical shades of pink and orange in between. I stood outside in the cool crisp air waiting for the stars to show me their faces. The wind rushed around me, embracing me with its gentle weightless arms. I glanced back up at the midnight sky, now a deep navy blue, had one small diamond poke its way out. It glistened so perfectly, flawlessly.
“Star light- Star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may- I wish I might- have the wish I wish tonight.” The words flooded in my mouth, and came spilling out rhythmically. I fell down to the grass, my hands folded, I bowed my head and whispered, “I need someone, whom ever in this world it is, please help me find them. Please. Please, little star. Please, God.” I peeked up. The little star was gone. “Wait! Come back!” I murmured the words over and over again, hoping the star would come, but it never showed.
“That is really scary,” a voice shot from my house, breaking the for once, peaceful silence. I dashed inside, nearly slipping on the mat placed in front of the door.
“No way that’s not scary, what would be scary is if this gory hand just popped up out of nowhere and started grabbing on to peoples’ legs,” my older brother, David, laughed, his face was highly amused.
“What are you two talking about that seems to be so amusing or scary?” I interrogated.
“David and I are talking about this story that’s on the news. David doesn’t think it’s scary enough. But I on the other hand think it’s pretty creepy,” said Cody.
“What’s it about?” I questioned again.
“O’ it’s nothing really, just some weird mass murder down in New York. About one hundred people we killed and there was one survivor but they didn’t make it,” David responding, not even showing the slightest amount of concern.
I stood there wide eyed, barely able to think properly.
“See look at that, Hai is scared too so it looks like I win!” Cody bragged, nudging David’s shoulder.
I stood there, unable to move, or even remember how to breathe. My heart beat like a pounding drum.
“Hai? Are you feeling alright, y-you’re as pale as the dead,” David whispered quietly kneeling down next to me. I collapsed to the ground, tears emanating from my eyes. I buried my face in my cold hands.
I had two emotions at the time
To cry, and be filled with painful, killing, sorrow.
To rejoice and be glad, as if my soul had been saved.
“Hai!!” David screamed. “Hai! What’s wrong?” he knelt down next to me. I couldn’t help it. All I could do was cry. And cry; was all I did.
I looked out the window with my blurred, watery vision. Against the velvety dark sky my wishing star sat and stared down upon me.
