The voice beckoned her closer, she was mesmerized at the candlelight that was held by the figure that spoke. "What... d-do you... want?" She shook her head furiously to remove her attention towards the dim fire. "Come... I will show you... the past..." The eerie figure murmured deeply, as she blinked she entered into the past; unable to do anything but watch her younger self unfold what had happened. The petite girl crawled over towards the small light intruding past the door, careful not to allow her shadow to expose her; she listened to the blatant argument continue, biting her lip anxiously. "We have to let her go! It's bad enough we have two children already! Why don't you understand?!" A booming masculine voice, erupted a female trying to defend herself verbally. "Who's going to take care of her, if not us then!? The orphanage won't! They just keep the children till they die! Then who's going to take care of her!? I want her to live a good life with a caring family!"
She retorted back with the faint sound of sobbing behind her trembling voice. "Fine! If you want to raise a stupid girl, who probably got abandoned in the first place by being stupid; then you can have your own life! But, I am ending this useless argument right now!" The male voice snapped back at the female who replied one last time. "Fine..." She mumbled as wailing could be heard once more, as the male approached the doorway. She quickly responded by entering the nearby washroom, flipping the lights on and flushing the toilet to pretend hopefully she wasn't accused of eavesdropping; while her older self lay on the floor with tears dribbling down her cheeks again. Her younger self prevailed with her feigned scheme, but she recieved a bitter glare from the male down the hallway; breathing a sigh of relief from the deliberate loss of her eye contact to his eyes. A sudden loud snap was all it took, to break her bonds from the past that she had witnessed; she looked up and saw the illumination of the same figure who had told her to edge closer. She blinked again after drying her relentless tears with her sleeve, she glanced around her bedroom noticing the small characteristics until her eyes met up with the candlelight; she grasped it gently her other hand wiping the endless sweat she had, until she felt enough courage to sleep once more. Drawing the candle to her lips she glimpsed at the last of the flickering flame she held, blowing lightly as the fire extinguished; a single tear cascading down her left cheek.
