“WHAT ARE YOU DOING? DO YOU HAVE NO EYES!” A mighty voice sounded out of Kala’s mind. She opened her eyes and groaned. She felt sore all over. The voice gasped and rushed over. Her eyesight was foggy and ripplish. But she still saw the brown beard and brown eyes. Though she was not startled by that, it was the pointed ears of the man. She scrambled back a bit.
“Oh it is alright my child I would NEVER harm you.” He whispered. Kala was completely and utterly confused. The man seemed to see her confusion because his face filled with sadness.
“They did not tell you?” He asked her.
“Who tell me what?” She asked back.
“Dear, I am your father.” He whispered.
“No you are not. My parents are the king and queen of Courdhaiin. Not you forest person.” She said.
“No child, I am your father. When you were born I loved you so much. But there was a war about to take place. I could not have risked your life or you getting hurt so I sent you to the king and queen’s palace to be taken care of.” He replied.
“NO!!! YOU ARE NOT MY FATHER!” Kala raged. She stormed out of the tree house she was in and jumped to the bottom. She was amazed to see she landed perfectly. As stomped to the edge of the woods she felt a pair of affectionate eyes on her but before she could look around she realized what time it was. Her eyes flashed alarm and she started to run. Then she say something step into her path. She slowed down and saw it was one of the people in the trees. She filled with rage and stopped in front of the person. She glared at the hesitant elf.
“Do you want a ride to the castle?” She stammered. Kala was surprised. Then she nodded and the woman looked relieved. She looked more gently at her as she whistled a quick, short, high-pitched note. Then two pure white beautiful horses trotted out of the woods and came to a stand still next to them. The lady helped her up and she got on. They only went to a trot because of the very hot afternoon.
“I am Marigold. Who are you?” Marigold introduced herself.
“I am Kala of Courdhaiin, and daughter of King Horon and Queen Ildegna. But that large man back there said he was my father.” She said confused.
“Yes, he is the king of the elven hood. He had a child that had the same eyes and hair as you. He named her Rose for her rose red hair.” Marigold told her.
“But he is not my father!” Kala burst. The elf was quiet and stopped abruptly. Kala looked ahead and saw people looking in the brush for something. Kala dismounted and brought the reins to the elf. She thanked her and walked guiltily to the people. One pointed to her and everybody ran to her and she stood with her eyes glued to the ground. The familiar growl sounded and everyone separated to so she could see father approaching. Before he got too close she glanced in the direction of Marigold. She saw her face full of sorrow and regret but she pulled away from the tree she was near and mounted her horse and galloped off through the trees. Then she glanced back at her father.
“Let’s go. Everybody go back to the palace.” he grabbed Kala’s arm and dragged her through the forest. He threw her into the dining hall and her mother sashayed over to her. She threw her arms over her and started to yell at her.
“Where were you!!!??? You are in HUGE trouble missy!!” She raged.
“Mother I am so sorry I caused so much worry but you won’t believe what happened so I am going to my room staying there for three weeks, and think of what I did,” Kala whispered. As she pulled away and glided slowly over to the big stairs leading to the second floor of the castle she heard her mother and father screaming for her to stop but she ignored them. She was going to visit that man in the forest again. She had realized, on their way back, how alike they were and how completely different her “parents” were from her. She was thinking so much she did not see that in her room, at the window on the far side, was Wilhelm. He turned and rushed over to her. Only then did she see him...
