Have you ever seen hell on Earth? Really? Huh, unlucky you. Now, have you seen it at age nine? Did you’re grandparents, whom you wish were you real parents, die in it? Did you see them die in it? Do the moans of the invaders still haunt you’re dreams at night? Do you’re grandparent’s screams for help feels like a needle through the veins every time you think of it?
Once more, you’re father just had to pick you up, taking you away from their screams for help, even though you knew you could help, but in reality you couldn’t. And it wasn’t if your father could hold you in a better position while him and a few others’s grabbed their gear, running for their lives.
But you saw. No matter what they’ll tell you; like “No, I think they made it,” or “They’re tougher than those damned ones”. You saw. You saw how they were eaten alive, limbs torn from their sockets, blood spraying like a leaking pipe, plentiful as water itself after it rained.
You saw how those monsters moaned in endless hunger as they bite and ripped into them. It was horrible. It was appalling. It was…something ten year olds shouldn’t dream of. I woke up three nights in a row now, in a cold sweat, unable to breathe the first three times I tried.
And I’ll keep having that dream for another two nights, before I befriended a new friend, Megan. But two years after that, I’ve been having different dreams. This time, I was being dragged away, this time seeing Megan’s own terrifying death. Those dreams happened again and again, separating by a day every time.
I would have the dream, and then have it the next night, not the next night but the one after that, and so on. Finally, I had enough of it. After a year in a half of those dreams torturing me, I brought up the nerve to ask Megan out. She said yes, but also asked why now? I mean, I should have expected that on the bus to school.
I told her about the dreams and how I was sick of fearing that I might loose her. I told her I wanted a sure fire way of finding some comfort. She said she thought it was most romantic thing anyone has ever said to her. I thought it was the sanest thing I ever did.
The dreams stopped for a while and I enjoyed dating Megan, eventually becoming her boyfriend and share wonderful, heavenly times with her. Only the night mares came back. And this time, they weren’t nightmares. This time, it was real. And I wasn’t the only one having this nightmare today…
