• CHAPTER 89 - EXAMS

Of course, the bad things happen just two days before your exams and you only have one day left to cram in all of the studying...I just wanna pull my hair out!

I reposed my hands on Kai's waist where the bandages were and I pressed lightly against the wound where the knife was, "Does it hurt?"

"It's a little sore," Kai's hand covered my hand.

I sighed, saddened, "Make me a promise and just don't make any more offers to them,"

    "Ari--,"

"They haven't accepted any of them for months, Kai," I sighed again.

He grabbed into my waist and pulled me towards him for a rough, wet kiss, "I won't give up, Arisa,"

I pursed my lips and looked down, "Just let me know if you think you'll be hurt or not. I don't want you to lie to me again."

"I'm being eaten alive because of that," he sighed. "I'm so sorry."

"I understand," I kissed him again. "Just don't get yourself killed."

He breathed out another small laugh, "They won't kill me because then they can't get to you," he looked down. "Not unless I bring you to them."

I locked my hands behind his neck and looked down as well. The only way out of this is if one of us dies. If Kai dies, I'll be spared because then the Vampires won't be allowed to kill me. But if I die before the contract starts up, Kai will be spared and they will have to wait for another two hundred to three hundred years. Nobody can win in this deal...except for the Vampires when the contract acts up.

"Life sucks sometimes," I laughed halfheartedly.

    "It does," he agreed.

He pulled me in for another kiss and leaned back so he was lying on the bed and his hands never left my waist. We kissed like that for a few minutes with my hands in his hair and my heart tying up in knots. We were both too pessimistic about things but with this whole contract ordeal, there is no optimistic side for us. We're martyrs, but what else can we do?

I flinched and blushed as Kai's halfway eager hand grabbed onto my bottom once more. I bit my lip and smiled sheepishly while still turning pink. I lay myself on him carefully to not agitate his wound and our slow kissing continued. Kai's other hand reached my bottom as well and he gave me a little boost to move me up for a better kiss. My face heated up but surprisingly, not too much. I moved my head to the side to kiss his neck and I moved my hair off of my neck. I inched my face closer to Kai's and sighed after finally noticing the red tint in his eyes.

"You've lost a lot of blood," I leaned my head over to expose my bare neck. "Drink."

Kai wrapped one arm around my waist and another around my shoulders and without hesitation or another word, he bit in. I rested myself completely on his torso and I shut my eyes, waiting. The cold of Kai's hands were luckily keeping me a little cooler than the glass of water Kira had handed me earlier. Maybe because of that, I won't feel as queezy from the blood loss. Kai's deep breath let me know that he was way thirsty; he can't drink too much or he'll become immortal. Of course, he'd probably have to drink way more than what he has but you can't be too sure. The subtle sting of the bite was finally starting to go away as soon as I felt Kai's lengthened, cuspidate fangs pull out of my neck.

"Do you feel better?" I whispered to him, avoiding eye contact with the blood on his chin.

    He rubbed my back, "Yeah,"

I sighed deeply and rested my head on his bare torso, feeling the blood from my neck trickle on my skin, "Good,"

I managed to ignore the cold of his arms around me and his torso I used as my pillow and I dozed off. He played with my hair a little and kissed my head, whispering how precious I was to him. I'd tell him how precious he was, but there were too many words to describe that feeling. The same goes for him; he's just narrowing them down a bit.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

Parking in front of my school two days later, my nerves were acting up severely. I was so nervous to start my exams; I was asleep practically all day Monday and I couldn't think after seeing my potential killer outside of my window and having Kai come back covered in blood from head to toe. Kai and I spent all day Tuesday cramming in studying of subjects I wasn't too strong in that I would have exams for today. Tonight would be another study night, Thursday would be more exams and then another study night, Friday would be the last day of exams and Saturday is when our exams are handed back, determining who graduates and who doesn't.

"I don't think I can do this, Kai," I whispered nervously, flexing my fists.

"You'll be fine; you studied," he reassured.

I bit my lip and looked up the stairs at the evil doors that held Hell behind them. As soon as I would step in there, I'd burn alive and be greeted by Satan himself. I could see the evil façade already. Either way; if I graduate, I still won't see those preps and jocks again but if I don't graduate then I still won't see them again but I will be stuck in my Senior year again with different preps and jocks.

The five-minute warning bell rang and I turned around quickly, grabbed Kai's head, and kissed him hard, "Wish me luck!" and I took off.

I walked up the stairs and as soon as I opened the front doors to Hell, the hallway was nearly empty. Great, that's all I need is to be damn near tardy on my first day of exams.

Hopefully my killer won't be watching me this time.

    ~*~*~*~*~*~

"Oh my God, Kai, I can't study anymore," I whined and flopped backwards onto the bed, leaving my pounds of open books and notes at the end of the bed.

"If you want to graduate next weekend, you're gonna have to," Kai leaned back against the headboard and scratched his head.

"I thought they said graduating was the experience of a lifetime; these exams are hard!"

Kai cocked an eyebrow, "How well did you do on the exams today?"

"I bet I bombed them," I mumbled into a pillow I smeared on my face.

Kai frowned at me, I could feel it, "You had History first period, study hall second period to study and then Chemistry. I'm sure you did fine if you studied in study hall."

"Can't wait to bomb English tomorrow," I mumbled again.

Kai pat my right thigh, "Come on, let's keep studying,"

    "Can I eat first?"

"It's not ready yet," he shook my leg. "Come on."

I rolled onto my side, facing away from Kai, "Screw you; you're killing me,"

Kai moved one of his arms in front of me for his own support and he leaned over to look at my pillow-covered face, "Do you want to go another year in school and take the same exams?"

I paused for a second and then growled loudly in my pillow and sat up, "I hate school," I sighed. "I'm tired."

"Dinner!" I heard Matsuda call from downstairs.

My savior has arrived; I threw my pillow to the side--accidentally knocking Kai in the face--and hopped off of the bed. I calmly left the bedroom and walked at a normal pace down the stairs; I didn't want to look retarded. After I reached the bottom, the heel of my foot was in pain after hearing a "crunch" from underneath. I lifted my foot up and froze after I realized Takeuchi's Bumblebee Transformer with a missing right arm; it was six inches away. Great, I broke the arm off.

Takeuchi jumped out of his room with a panicked expression, "I heard a crunch! It sounded like a toy!"

Takeuchi's eyes widened after he witnessed my raised foot with Bumblebee underneath, "Uh--,"

    "Bumblebee!!" Takeuchi screeched.

I quickly picked up the two pieces and I handed them to Takeuchi who took them fervently and cradled them close, "My poor Bumblebee!"

    "I-I'm sorry, Takeuchi!" I panicked. "I didn't watch where I was going!"

"It's not your fault; Bumblebee is too careless!" Takeuchi cried. "Bad Bumblebee!" he lectured the crippled action figure.

I watched Takeuchi in shocking awe as he carried his chronically injured friend to his bedroom. I would imagine he'd complain to Miku and Miku would probably break it even more. Kai came down the stairs behind me, laughing.

"That mutt is so stupid," Kai's arm wrapped around my waist and he guided me to the kitchen.

"I feel bad, though," I complained. "I broke his Transformer."

"Like there aren't any others in the world," he rolled his eyes.

"But he's told me before that he's had that Transformer since he was three!"

Kai pat my shoulder, "Don't worry, he'll fix it,"

Moments later, we were all crowded at the table and Miku finally ate in the kitchen in her wheelchair. Toshihiro was in the high chair between Miku and I. Toshihiro was chowing on mini sushi rolls Kira prepared specially for him along with little squares of steak. He was sowing that food right down and very easily too. I was surprised he was able to sit up already in a high chair.

"Oh, Arisa," Orihime intervened, "we need ideas for the parties."

I burrowed my eyebrows together, "What parties?"

"You graduation and birthday parties," she smiled.

    Goddammit.
