The cool ocean waves brushed up against my feet as the warm sand heated them from underneath. I reeled in my line, reloaded it, and then cast it again. Three hours, and I haven’t caught a single fish. My little brother, Tim, got bored and ran back to our small straw hut. I finally felt a tug on my line, and it was much heavier than usual. I hurriedly try to snag it, but it didn’t put up much of a fight. It was surprisingly easier to reel in than most of the other small, tropical fish here on our small, secluded Caribbean island. I was shocked to see that it was a fish skeleton, and not just any ordinary fish, this was a shark’s body! The biggest fish around here are the bass, and even they’re pretty small, compared to the shark. And this was no ordinary shark. It was 12 feet long! There were still tiny bits of flesh on it. I carried it back to the hut to investigate. Guess me and Tim will have to starve tonight!
Later that night, there was a violent storm. Lightning crashed into our hut, and the strong surges of wind blew all of our furniture away. There was a maelstrom in the ocean. It was dark, but I could make out the outlines of dead fish swirling around in it. I threw some of our leftovers that had gone bad into the center. A huge monster lunged out of the eye causing water to splash everywhere. It then dove back into the water, causing a huge wall of water to come toward us. Tim and I ran for our lives, but we knew it was useless. The wave sank our entire island.
