I stared up at the large, ancient house after the dead lawn. Its doors were large and rickety as if they were the bones old woman. I crossed the lawn, autumn leaves crunching beneath my crimson boots. My dress' long sleeves and skirt shieled me from the elements, wind and bitter cold.
Opening the door slowly, I slunk inside the dwelling. Paintings hung from the walls with peeling wall paper beside them. Wet leaves covered every inch of the white marble floor. The house wailed and moaned, aching for its master's return. Please, leave me silence for mere seconds. I beseeched in my thoughts. Then, as if the house had read them, the mansion suddenly developed an eerie, deafening silence.
