Leo watched as the ground sped by underneath of him. Forests, deserts, lakes, mountains; tons of scenery whizzing by as he watched it all from the plane's window. He had done it, Leo had finally managed to follow his dream. Ever since Leo could remember, all he had wanted to do was move to the City. Leo couldn't help but marvel at how different the scenery was. The places he had visited as a kid had nothing but forests and beaches, and the S.S. City had a lot more variety than that. Leo looked around at the other passengers in the plane with him. Most of the sixty or so people were very young, between thirteen and twenty-one. It was fairly unsurprising, as the S.S. City had been designed as a fairly upbeat and active place.
Leo drifted off into thinking about the City, and how a single ship could be so big. The S.S. City was a giant ship that ran on solar power, and was covered with all kinds of environments. It had been built centuries ago due to rising water levels around the planet. The water had risen along with the temperature due to global warming caused by a giant machine called The Reformer. The Reformer had been created by the True Power, a system made when all of the major crime organizations decided to band together into a single group. The Reformer was built in order to create non-renewable energy sources, letting the True Power control the energy trade. However, The Reformer didn't work as planned, and instead malfunctioned, causing a global disaster that ripped large holes in the planets atmosphere.
Leo's mind zipped back to reality as the P.A. system dinged. “Passengers,” it announced “please buckle your seat belts and... hold on for your lives!”
What!? What did she say? Leo thought as he started to buckle himself in. Just as Leo got his seat belt together, the plane started to shake violently, and the P.A. system announced that there might be some slight turbulence. Leo heard a loud crashing sound as the plane hit the small runway. When the plane came to a stop and Leo got out, he saw that the landing gears had all been broken off. As the passengers were walking towards the entrance to the actual city, a man of about thirty came hustling out. He was fairly overweight, and was clearly exhausted from his trip.
“May I have your attention please.” he announced. “All new residents must sign up at this desk, and all returning residents must go to that desk there to retrieve their IDs.”
Leo got into the line with the rest of the new residents, who made up about two-thirds of the plane's passengers. As he walked up to the desk, the stout man handed him a form and a pen, then pointed to a row of seats not far away. As Leo walked to the seats, he couldn't help but notice the strange flowers and plants that covered the ground. They were all in various shapes, sizes, and colors, with the strangest being a four foot tall, pink flower shaped like an egg.
When Leo sat down in a chair, he looked over the sheet of paper. There were all of the basic questions, such as date of birth, race, and Birthright. Leo put his age as seventeen, his race as Caucasian, and his Birthright as Hydrokinesis.
Birthright's were an inherent ability that everyone developed at birth due to the large amounts of UV rays that their ancestors were exposed to after the atmosphere was destroyed. Most people had very common abilities such as a kinesis or a form of divination, but others had very unique powers such as Necromancy.
After Leo had finished filling out his form, he returned it to the man, who gave it a quick once over, then handed Leo an ID card. “Now,” he said, “make sure that you bring this card to the Immigration Office in two weeks time. Once there, they will give you your permanent resident's ID.”
Leo took the card and headed towards the open gates of the city. As he walked into the city, he reflected on the achievement of this act.
Starting today, he thought, I'm following my dreams. And with that he walked into the bright, concrete glory known only as:

- Yeah, I can understand the three stars. Thing is, it's an old series that I started way back when in middle school, and I write a lot better now. But hopefully it'll get better.
