• A.K.A Wolf Act IV Coming.

Sparks almost never left my side and when he did, it was for a maximum of 3 minutes. Zero kept saying how we needed to go north in search of the Red Lilies, but he never said that it would be easy. For hours and hours we would run north and I wasn’t even sure if they knew where they were going. After about a day, we reached a small town that looked really vacant. And that’s when I noticed why we had stopped here and not just passed it; Hotaka, Zero and Sparks all had clothing on and I still had a scarf coiled around my human body. And I was almost certain that Zero was just as fed up with it as I was. That’s why as we entered the small town, and we passed a clothing store, Zero yanked me into it.

He bought me underwear, a white tank top, blue denim jeans, white socks, lace up sneakers, and a mystery item. I made him buy me some barrettes for my hair, mainly because I needed to keep my human hair away from my face. But also just annoy him (he just deserves it sometimes). As I was getting changed behind a dumpster in an alley, I saw Zero’s mystery gift: a CAT collar. I finished getting dressed and I held the collar out to Zero. After a few seconds, Hotaka and Zero burst into hysterical laughter.

“Oh come, now Yukiru,” Hotaka said in-between laughing spells.

“With that, we don’t have to look for you…” Zero added while he was still laughing.

“We could just listen for your wittle bell!” They both said in unison.

I could feel my face getting warmer and warmer. I reluctantly put the red collar around my neck and every time I would take step, an annoying “ping” would echo from my neck. With Sparks right behind me, I passed numerous stores; fashion, music, weapons. Wait weapons? I peered into a store window and, there, lightly placed, almost like it was floating, sat a gun with such luster, such a powerful appearance, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I can’t just burst my hand threw the glass and steal it. I pressed my forehead and gazed at it for a while until Zero jumped behind me. He studied the gun slightly, “Nice choice, Yukiru,” he commented.

“Huh?” I replied trying to tear my eyes away from that mystical gun.

“That’s a Smith and Western colt .45 caliber hand gun,” Zero complimented. How the heck did Zero know that? How long has he been a human? I questioned myself. Zero casually walked into the shop and spoke with the keeper. They occasionally looked at the gun from the counter with sort of lustful eyes. Zero gave the man some paper and circle things, which I guess was of some value and the shopkeeper also gave Zero a small box, about the size of a fist. The two strolled over to the window and the older looking man gently picked the gun off of it’s perch and placed it in Zero’s hands. They said some more things that I couldn’t comprehend and Zero finally exited the store.

“Your gun, Miss,” he said with a smug grin. Mine? The gun was mine? Happiness was the biggest understatement anyone could make of how I was feeling at that moment.

I threw myself onto Zero in a hug, “Thank you, Zero,” I said quietly. Zero then showed the weapon to me, it was even more glorious in the untouched sunlight. The coldness of the metal, the faint smell of gunpowder, the cursive inscriptions, everything was perfectly sculpted as if by the Gods themselves. I was so taken by my gun that I didn’t notice that Sparks wasn’t glued to me like he normally was.

“Sparks?” I called out, scanning the area around me, nothing but cobble stone roads, Hotaka and Zero. That’s when I heard the shriek that brought back memories from what seemed so long ago. The shriek for help by a young male wolf. I sprinted to where the call came from and I saw Sparks, pinned down by another male human with a large, silver, fang shaped device up to Sparks’ neck. No, not again…I have to do something this time! I told myself. I had barely noticed Zero grab the gun from my grasp and aim it at the human.

“Let the kid go,” Zero ordered sternly with almost no expression on his face. The human only smiled evilly and pressed the shiny fang shaped object harder onto Sparks’ neck. I was at my breaking point; I blinked into a wolf and charged at the man. But, before I could bite into his neck, the man sliced my shoulder open with his fang blade. I almost couldn’t stand afterwards. Zero was a terrible shot and kept missing the man. Soon, I ran out of energy and Zero ran out of bullets. I was pinned, in my human form, by the evil lame human and he was just about to slice my throat open, until there was an immense heat all through out the street.

I looked over to where the source of the heat was, and there I saw something I never thought I would. Sparks, my small Sparks, had evolved into this giant inferno wolf. His once adorable and venerable figure had dissolved into one huge wolf made of fire. His piercing ember eyes terrified everyone, even me.

He growled in a demonic tone. Without hesitation the male human pulled his fang away from my throat and ran out of the ally, screaming his stupid head off. Then, as quickly as it came, Sparks’ flame appearance fizzled out and he was the loveable pup I grew to adore.

His ears were perked up and his tail was happily wagging as he licked my face. Zero gave a relieved sigh as he put something inside of my gun; I think they were “bullets”.

“Let’s get out of here,” he said in a sort of annoyed tone.

When we all got back on track of finding the Red Lilies, it was already getting dark. There was a fallen tree that seemed big enough to shelter us all with the vegetation that grew from it. After only a few minutes, with Sparks at my side, I fell asleep.

    {Zero’s Point of View}

I couldn’t believe how fast everyone fell asleep; even Hotaka was out of it on only 15 minutes. I just couldn’t get to sleep as usual, so I decided to get a midnight snack, a mole or something. But before I could even get out of our little lean-to of a shelter, I smelled the scent of another male wolf…not a friend. I went wolf and pounced on the wolf. It was some scrawny, flea-infested wolf with crooked teeth; he reeked of blood though. His constant laughter annoyed the crap out of me.

“He’s a’comin’! Ya’ll betta run! He’s gonna get’cha!” He said as he snickered.

“Who is?” I ordered in a pissed off tone.

“Surt-Lim, sonny! No one can stop ‘im! Gonna gobble ya’ll up for dinner he is!”

“When? When is he coming?!” I interrogated as I pressed him deeper into the dirt.

“10 days now…then ya’ll gonna die, every single one o’ ya!”

I let the skinny, crazy wolf out of my grasp with no emotion on my face. 10 days, that’s all we had…
