Far away from home
I clutched at my chest from the pain my heart was leaving me with. I was working my body to the point where I felt like I wasn’t going to live anymore. My pale cold feet trailed off the ground in a panic and I landed in the sooted fields of the Black Forest. I looked around for Winter, though she was nowhere to be found. I kept my mouth shut; not wanting to die, at least not yet. My skin was now covered in dirt, and bruised in shades of purples and yellows in some areas of my arm. I fluttered my eyes a few times, as the acid rain began to pour onto my skin; burning freshly cut wounds surrounding my body. Closing my eyes, I prayed that my dear Winter was safe and alive.
For reason they were after me, for what exactly? I’m still trying to figure that out myself. Ever since the age of eight, I have been gifted with certain abilities, being able to see the future so called, but no one understood me; except Winter of course. Out of nowhere I began to feel weary and exhausted; I titled my head back until my body was lying on the ground, and open for any living animal to come and feast upon me. I wasn’t afraid of death, I’m not ready for death, we all have a purpose, and I have a purpose.
The smell of metal filled my lungs. It was intoxicating, but yet outstandingly addicting. I opened my eyes to the same forest, the same sky, only it was night, and to me somehow it was the brightest time of the day. I shifted my eyes back and forth trying to figure out where the smell was coming from until I spotted a pool a blood. Immediately rising up, I ran over to it noticing a familiar figure. It was a young female with ash brown hair which hung just below her shoulders; pale skin with a rose petal kiss on her cheek. Blood slowly trickled out of her mouth, and spooled down from her jaw line onto the Earth. “Winter!?” I choked, trying so hard to swallow back my tears. There were several wounds covering her body but only two I took into occurrence, stab wounds. I placed her head on my thigh soothing out the crinkles in her hair. Her eyes opened wide to the soft hazel eyes I remembered. Her head felt so fragile in my arms as if any sudden movement would break her into pieces. Her voice cackled, trying to speak though I hushed her. “Winter...You will live...I needed you then...and I need you now.” A tear strolled down my face and landed on the tip of her cracked lips. I glanced at her for a moment, she looked dead; but how could death look so beautiful.
The air became crisp and bleak making it harder to breath, the cold air puncturing my lungs. I held her limp body closer to me, trying to keep her warm. She’s human as well I, but she always called me “Different”. I never actually agreed with her until I began to change into what I call half human. I don’t know whether I’m dead or alive, sometimes I don’t even feel a pulse, but what she called me before we disappeared from each other was her, “Guardian”. Thinking of all this made me choke up even more, and I couldn’t hold it anymore until tears started to run down my face. “Rest Winter.” I cooed to her, she didn’t refuse and closed her eyes. Every so often I would listen to her heart drop and rise, which kept me preoccupied all night. Snow gracefully blanketed the ground and laced our bodies, leaving the white snow to turn red. Sometimes I believed Winter was gifted, as if this were her way to tell me to rest, but I wasn’t going to leave her, not now not ever.

- A new line (enter x2) should be started every time a new character speaks, otherwise it just becomes a blinding block of text that discourages readers. [/end public service announcement] Otherwise, very good. Nice premise, you just have to make sure that you aren't too vague. There are ways of being vague in a specific way, if that makes sense. My one and only submission is a good example of this, if you're interested. Otherwise, keep up the good work. smile
