PROLOUGE
Where am I…what is this place…mum…father…anyone!?
The sounds were becoming deafening and a bright light was shining right into his eyes. “Hey…you alright??” He cracks his eyes open slightly. “Good you’re alive.” His eyes opened completely to see a flashlight being shined on him.
He blinked several times. “Um…can you turn that off?” His voice cracked as if it hadn’t been used in a long time. “Oh…man I’m sorry.” the light went out and only the dark silhouette of the person could be seen.
“Who are you?...where am I?” he slowly tried to stand but pain shot through is entire body and he fell back to the ground. The person ran to his side and lifted him into a sitting position, “You ok?” He nodded and looked up at the person he squinted to try and get rid of the blur but it remained. “I can’t see you.” His voice continued to crack.
“I’m surprised you’re even conscious…be glad you can’t see yourself.” ‘Do I look that terrible..?’ Out of nowhere the person he was speaking to lifted him up. “Hey!” He tried to get out of the grasp but his body screamed for him to stop. He went limp in the hold, “Where are you taking me..?” he asked trembling slightly.
“To my place…don’t worry…you’ll be safe there.” It was pitch black where they were but the person carrying him maneuvered with ease. They got to a large building and the person carried him inside and up a flight of stairs. The person leaned against a wall near a door and fiddled with a key unlocking it and stepping inside. He walked over to a couch and placed him down gently.
The person walked away and a light on the ceiling was flicked on. He winced when the light hit his eyes. Blinking a couple of times he looked up at the person who saved him. It was a man with graying hair and deep blue eyes. He had a friendly, strong face and a bulky build but otherwise he looked safe enough. “My names Michael…Michael Jacob Charleston…and you are?”
He looked at the man for a moment and searched his mind…umm…Marcus...I think that’s my name…” he looked up at the man a little confused and disoriented because of the fact that he couldn’t remember much and his body ached violently. “Uh oh…that’s not good…can you remember anything but your name?” Michael asked looking severely concerned. Marcus looked slightly put out shaking his head no to answer Michael.
Michael got up and went into another room coming back with a towel in his hand. “You should go take a shower…clean yourself up a bit…then I can see the damage better.” Handing Marcus the towel Michael led him to bathroom and walked off mumbling to his self. Marcus entered the bathroom slowly staring at the tiled floor and closing the door silently. Taking a deep breath to calm his self. Marcus looked up and into the mirror to see what Michael kept talking about. What he saw shocked him…his face was swollen and purplish-green bruises were scattered around it as well. Trembling he took off his shirt to see his body scattered with cuts and marks that looked like someone tried to eat him. He had more bruises and it felt like something was broken in his side because his ribs hurt with every breath he took. Slowly his hands grasped his pants and he was shaking so much that he couldn’t grip the button. Gulping he slid them off slowly wincing every time they came in contact with his tender, bruised flesh. His pants fell around his ankles and he realized that he had nothing under them…shuddering he looked down and saw what he was afraid of…dried blood was caked onto his thighs and something white that could only be one things was mixed with it. His heart clenched painfully as he looked up seeing himself in the mirror…his pale skin had went sheet white and his pupils were dilated…he couldn’t find the strength to breathe and fell down colliding with the corner of the sink as he hit the tile.
