I thought it would be better to travel with Joey. I was sadly mistaken.
"Hey, do that aura sphere thing again!"
"Now, using your aura sight, count how many fingers I'm holding up." And when I got it right, "AWESOME!"
He would also try and grab my tail, which flicked in annoyance.
Will you stop trying to grab my tail, Joey?!
He gave me an innocent little kid look. "But it's so... Weird. It's kinda cool too."
Well, if you keep grabbing it, it'll fall off.
His eyes grew wide in mock amazement. "Really? If it does, can I have it?"
I slapped my paw to my face, covering it.
Nighttime finally came. Joey plopped down. "I'm so tired! I don't wanna walk tommorrow."
I narrowed my red eyes and grinned. So whatever happened to being manly, huh?
"Uh, I mean, bring it on! I can walk all day!"
I rolled my eyes. Sure.
I heard a sudden splash from farther down the creek. Then voices and the barking of dogs. I was instantly on my feet.
We've got company!
No doubt it was the police.
I ran to Joey. Get on, I said, kneeling down so he could climb on my back.
"What?"
Just hurry!
The barking was getting nearer. It took precious seconds away before Joey finally clambered on. I started running down the tunnel. Joey was screaming from either fear or delight.
Joey, if you don't shut up, then we're dead! I snarled.
That got him quiet. Turning around, I charged up an aura sphere and collapsed part of the ceiling, so that they would have a hard time getting through. I started running again, and jumped over another part of the fence. I ran along the fence, then running a slight distance from the fence. This will throw off our scent, I told Joey. Give me one of your socks.
"What? Why?"
They'll think we went in a different direction. We need to stick to the creek.
"Fine."
I threw the sock far away. Then, turning around, we went back to the creek.
We both sat down. That was too close, but I managed to shake' em off.
I looked over at Joey. You did pretty well. I thought you'd react completely different.
He looked up. "Really?"
No doubt about it.
He smiled. "Thanks."
