Madam Wickefisto was once a sweet, innocent girl once upon a time, long-long ago when the world was ruled by gods, when she was known as Whera and worked at her village’s only inn, which was owned by her widowed mother. At the young age of 16 a handsome prince of 28 years wandered into her village looking for a haven, away from the war in his kingdom. While staying at the inn, The prince began working for the inn for food and shelter and gained the trust of the villiage. The prince flirted with Whera while her mother was out of sight, and eventually won her over with his devious smile. The two were married less than a month after he first arrived. The day after their reception, a messenger arrived in the village with word that the war was over and the king wished for his son to return.
The prince brought Whera back with him to his home, where she was met by his very jealous, angry, and hateful family, including the king, whom were insulted at their only prince marrying an outside villager. Immediately after the two settled down, the King, out of disgust, secretly ordered Whera’s entire village to be destroyed, and the head of Whera’s mother brought back on a pike. Less than a week later, the King called his son and daughter-in-law to attend a banquet in Whera’s honor. The King ordered Whera to drink out of her mother’s skull and say an oath to the King of her loyalty to the royal family...when Whera refused to comply the King ordered his son to behead Whera for her insolence. With great disdain and sorrow, the prince followed his father’s wishes and did the deed...he beheaded his dear wife.
That very night, Hades god of Tartarus and the afterlife, found sweet, young Whera chained in a line of demonic dead people, on her way to one of the darkest places of hell. Hades looked into her soul and gave a horrid shreak at realization of the wrongful placement of Whera in Tartarus. Although it was too late for a second chance at life, he gave her a rare opportunity. Hades said, “instead of spending eternity being tortured, you can work for me. I am in need of a fairy death mother, are you interested in the position?”
“What on earth is that?” Whera asked.
“You will be given the power to help grant the wishes of dying people. For example, if a young woman like yourself, dies an untimely and unjust death, if she wishes for justice to be served on her murderers, you will have mothering ability to take care of her last wishes by granting them.”
Without hesitation, Whera accepted the position. In the blink of an eye, Whera was transformed into a fairy of death. Over time, Whera could no longer identify herself with her past life as Whera, and changed her name to Wickefisto, the fairy death mother.
