Not bad for someone new to photography!
If you are going to take a macro (close up) use a macro setting for your lens—your camera's manual will help you with this—and pick a background that is not too busy. In this photo, the leafs in the top left corner are the sharpest when the pine cone should be such. Adjust the lens's focal point so it is on the pine cone, instead. (the macro will help you achieve this) Lastly, use the sun to help light up your photos.

Try to hold your hand still so it doesn't come out so blurry.
I have a Kodak too and a Samsung (Only 7MP)
They both suck. But i take pretty good pictures
