For those of you who don't know, the cahracter Kenshin was based on a real life warrior named Kawakami Gensai, whom was a Japanese samurai of the late Edo period. A highly skilled swordsman, he was one of the four most notable assassins of the Bakumatsu period. Gensai's high-speed sword discipline was in the Shiranui-ryū (created by Gensai himself), which was the style that Kenshin's Hitten Mitsurugi Ryu was based upon.
